Character Description:
The appearance of Artemis’ physical form always matches whichever avatar I happen to be using at the time.
Character History:
Born in the heart of the multiverse, Artemis spent most of his mortal existence making a severe nuisance of himself where the Forces of Evil were concerned. About 300 years after his escape from Universe Zero, circumstances forced Artemis and his eternal partner, Tomoe Hotaru, into battle with the Lord of Nightmares. The battle ended when Artemis landed a fatal blow, destroying L-sama’s physical form and absorbing a small portion of her power. Artemis used this power in conjunction with his dreamscape to make himself a chaos deity, and to resurrect a fatally wounded Hotaru and grant her the same status.
Since then, Artemis and Hotaru have spent most of their time in a pocket dimension outside of time and space, watching events in the multiverse and playing the roles of the ultimate meddlers, screwing with the plans of the Inidrasil and destroying the concept of fate one destiny at a time.
Character Personality:
Being immortal has done wonders for Artemis’ sense of humor; he rarely takes anything completely seriously, and on those occasions where he is truly mad about something he is far more likely to respond with slapstick violence than he once was. Pretty much the only thing that can make him get serious is the concept of fate or destiny, which he vehemently opposes and undermines every chance he gets. Naturally this puts him at odds with entities like the Inidrasil.
Character Powers:
As a supremely powerful chaos diety embodying the creative aspect of chaos, Artemis can grant himself any power or skill set he desires. It is utterly impossible to destroy him or even really harm him in his natural form, but his natural form exists outside the multiverse and even beyond chaos, so it’s really kind of a moot point.
His status as a chaos diety, however, makes it impossible for him to manifest himself in the multiverse at large without destroying whichever universe he visits. Instead, Artemis seals most of his power and assumes a physical form whenever he visits. This form is quite vulnerable to damage (assuming one can penetrate Artemis’ defenses).
Artemis’ most-used power is his ability to reincarnate pieces of himself and merge those pieces with other souls in the process of reincarnation, essentially creating any number of avatars for himself. Any who come into contact with these avatars lose any fate or destiny that has been planned out for them, enabling them to make their own decisions without interference. Thus far, his only existing avatars are Lucas Akume (an aspiring overlord), Hinata Redcourt (a catgirl with a violent streak), and Rena Seijuro (a young swordswoman).
Artemis’ avatars are marked by a silver rune on the backs of their right hands and gain several powers to help ensure their survival. The most common power granted to Artemis’ avatars is the ability to tap into Artemis’ power, granting them a tiny portion of Artemis’ infinitely huge mana reserves. Several attacks unique to Artemis are also possible for his avatars; for one, instinctive knowledge of all attacks Artemis ever used with his keyblade, including Ars Arcanum, Strike Raid, and Ragnarok. More importantly, however, the avatar gains the ability to use an attack Hotaru invented and Artemis used against L-sama; Chaos Flare, an attack that utilizes the power of the Galaxy Cauldrons (of Sailor Moon manga canon) to create an attack with no limits to its' destructive power.
Secondly, should the avatar become aware of his connection to Artemis and accept his role as a destroyer of destiny and a smiter of all things evil, Artemis will always grant that avatar an extremely powerful weapon or artifact to aid them in their journeys.
Lastly, if one of Artemis’ avatars is in the same universe as one of Hotaru’s avatars, they will inevitably become drawn to one another, providing each other with an invaluable ally and probably drawing others into their cause as well. This is not due to any particular guidance on Artemis and Hotaru’s parts; it just comes with the territory of being the avatars of two soulmates.
Minions:
None.
Character Inventory:
None. As a diety with powers relating to creation, Artemis doesn’t need an inventory when he can simply will objects into existence.
