Wondering about Something....

They say that some dreams are meant only to be dreams.... But what if you could change that? What if you could live your wildest fantasies and share your experience with others? Would you be willing to invest your time in something so wondrous? How about your sanity? Your life?

To those who have said yes, let me show you to another world. A world which is very different from this one, yet at the same thing very much the same. A world I like to call.... My Other Earth.

You have randomly been selected to beta test a ground-breaking video game that is so realistic that those who play it aren't even sure if what they're playing is reality or not. It WILL be the game of the century, if not of all time.

That is, unless the other gaming companies have something to say about it. After all, if they allow this game to be released to the public, nearly every other game out in the market will immediately become obsolete. The only way they can stop this looming threat from ever rising is if they stop it before it ever comes out. Desperate times call for desperate measures, even if a few innocent testers have to be harmed in the process....


It's an idea I've been thinking about. I know it isn't completely fleshed out yet, but.... Yeah. Want to give a few suggestions?

I think it sounds pretty good. Who would the players be playing, though? Game creators? Play-testers? Those trying to remove this new "threat?" Or perhaps some of each? I know I'd like to play in this, but I like to start getting ideas together early.... I haven't gotten to roleplay with you in way too long. I've missed it, to be honest with you.

They would be playing as the beta-testers, people who've been selected because their financial/social situation is so dire that they'd take any risk to get out of it. Why would they choose people so desperate? Well, bugs in this game don't simply crash the entire system, with is itself quite bad; they can also corrupt the player's mind, causing irreversible nerve damage and/or complete insanity. They weren't joking when they asked if you were willing to put your life on the line. >_> But hey, getting to live out your dreams seems more than worth it, right?

The RP is more Matrix-like, meaning that you're going to have to plug in to play the game. No brain-spikes or anything, though. I don't think anyone would want to get a giant port installed on the back of their head for ANYTHING. >_<

Specifications.... Well, in the game, there are three separate worlds, each in a different time-setting. Want to slay dragons and ogres as an elf knight? Ascentia is your world. Feel like battling against hordes of hostile aliens alongside a hodgepodge of various other foreign species? The Dystropics sound like the place for you. Just hungering to have a good ol' conversation with your real-life buddies while hanging out in the Big Apple? Stop by Halesten and see what it has in store for you.

Try to model your character according to which world you like.... But don't count on having that character stay intact throughout the course of the RP. Like I said before, there are some people who don't want Other Earth to succeed....

Or would there be a chance of some how say you got transformed into a catgirl in game.. it having an effect real world

Well, yes, it is "all in your head." What happens to you in the game doesn't affect you in the real world.

Though, if you want it to be so, then I'll try to find a way. It might involve bending the rules a bit, but then again, RPs are all about breaking the rules, right? :p

Nearly all of the RP will be spent in the game, anyway, so you're not going to see the effects it has on your real body, if any. I don't intend on dragging on the RP for too long, anyways. My goal: Short, sweet, and to the point!

No, I guess it wouldn't be. So your character would just keep denying that whatever is happening to him is actually happening to him, right? Ok, alright, cool. Too bad he's wrong; not all of the chinks have been worked out of the game just yet, so if he starts getting too careless with himself, he's going to find out firsthand what the glitches in the game are capable of. Character data manipulation, for example. >.>
