Jack purrs in response or rather, purrs at a higher pitch as he relaxes again with more hypnotic tail swinging.

She massaged his back for a little while longer, but kept glancing back at the tail. The way it swayed was quite fascinating.... Gradually, the movements ceased as she grew more mesmerized by the steadily swinging tail. It was like the hypnotist swinging his watch and saying "You are getting sleepy...." Only without falling asleep. Just... watching.
