-For those who've opened the box...-
After opening up the box and emptying its contents, you find what appears to be a small booklet with a picture of two Earths, one the regular blue green combo and the other in a strange negative tone, on its cover. You also discover a strange headset of some sort; it seems to surround the entire head, excluding the face, and there are several several jack-in ports on the back for power and internet connection. There doesn't appear to be a visor or mike on the thing, strangely enough. What was its use?
"Hello (insert name here), and thank you for participating in this beta test of our groundbreaking game, Other Earth!" The booklet begins. "We at I-Corps are happy to finally release to you our pride and joy, but before you can begin testing the product, there are several guidelines you will have to go over...."
1. This product has been tailored to be used by you and only you. If someone or something else attempts to use it or tamper with it, there is a high probability that either the device will malfunction and/or damage the user.
2. Be sure to use the product in a safe and controlled environment. Events such as power surges, natural disasters, and interference with the device during use have been known to cause numerous errors.
3. This is a BETA test. There will be errors in the game, and you WILL have to fix them.
"Game information will be revealed once you log in, create your character, and meet up with one of our staff. Instructions on how to set up the game are listed below. We hope to see you soon!"
Step 1: Locate a comfortable area to play the game in. Make sure that you will not be disturbed during your experience.
Step 2: Connect the cords on the back of your headset device to the the nearest power outlet.
Step 3: Place the device on your head and secure it using the adjustment knobs on the sides.
Step 4: Switch the dial labeled "Power" to the on position.
Step 5: Relax and enjoy! Do not try to remove the device during the initialization phrase or you WILL experience severe errors in your gaming experience.
