Jack was confused at first but immediately surprised by what Guen had just done, he reacts by wrapping his arms around her body and closing his eyes as he savours this romantic moment. "Death" meanwhile seems taken abakc by this though it's hard to tell with that hood she is wearing.

Hm, I see you two really do care for each other. Very well, since you have given your permission then I suppose she can take your place in what I have in mind.

With this, "she" approaches Guen and looks her over.

Are you really willing to let this man who has died before live again with you?

[Mistress Guendolen]

She pulled back, looking into his face as she responded. "Yes," she replied. "I am. What do I need to do?"

[David]

"Death" studies Guen closely. An uneasy chill going down the spine of Guen as the odd person looks her over.

You're serious, aren't you?

[Mistress Guendolen]

It was hard to suppress a shiver. That was an... intense look.... Creepy. She swallowed before responding. "Yes, I'm serious. So tell me what I need to do."

[David]

A sigh comes from the woman as she snatches the hourglass back out of Jack's hands and taps the top part of it with a surprisingly healthy if a little pale looking, finger.

I think I've seen enough proof here that others want him to remain alive as much as he does.

The black sand at the bottom of the hourglass begins to rise up through the small gap to the top half to form a generous "pool" of sand before stopping and resuming to follow the laws of physics.

10 years, that's all he can have I'm afraid.

Jack meanwhile looks stunned and is left rather speechless by the turn of events.

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Only ten years? But- but that's- that's still so- finite! Isn't there something that can make it last longer?..." She was grateful to get any time, to be certain, but still, to have ten years and then be snatched away.... It seemed so unfair....

[David]

Another chill goes down Guen's spine as "Death" replies coldly.

I could have just as easily have made it 1 hour so don't push your luck...

The chilly feeling fades as the figure seems to shrug under its robes.

Besides, I could only give him 10 years extra but I'm sure that's long enough for the two of you to see and do what you want together.

[Mistress Guendolen]

"I'm not sure about that." Her forehead rested on his shoulder. "But... if that's all you'll yield... I guess we just have to take what we can get...." This could be covered later. There was always a way. Ten years? Not long enough. But... she couldn't fight it now....

[David]

"Death" nods as best it can under the robes and fades away as she says in a faint voice.

Those 10 years aren't a guarantee so watch yourself, Jack...

This leaves Jack and Guen alone again once more so Jack does what any normal man would with a girl that saved thier life which means he HUGS Guen tightly and manages to say through tears of joy.

[Mistress Guendolen]

She hugged him just as tightly, head burrowed into the crook of his neck. "You're welcome. I... I just couldn't bear to think of her stealing you away.... You- I won't hold you here for the whole time, not if you don't want to be. It's your life. You choose where you go. But- you're welcome for as long as you do want to, you'll always have a place with me, no matter what...."

[David]

Guen feels the man shudder a little though not in revulsion it seems as the noticeable wetness of his tears hits her head.

I'm so sorry. I should've told you sooner...

[Mistress Guendolen]

"I... I guess so. Though it's a pretty outrageous story, isn't it? I might've had a hard time believing it if I didn't... see it happening for myself." She burrowed a little more against his neck. "And... I still would have, you know, brought you here to stay until it happened...."

[David]

Jack sniffs and nods.

Y-you know... I think I want to live out my last 10 years here....

[Mistress Guendolen]

"Really?" Her words were soft. "I think- no, I know- I'd like it if you did...." I'll just keep it to myself that I want to find a way to further extend that....

[David]

Jack nods once more and wipes his eyes.

Well... I guess I owe you my life so it'd be stupid of me to walk out on you now and in the future.
