Indiana Jones

Postby Mitera Nikkou » Tue Jan 08, 2008 6:11 pm

Well, with the next installment of the series coming out this May, I was wondering which of the first three people like the most. And yes: I'm making you make a choice. ;p Unless you don't vote at all, anyway. (To whomever does: cheater!)

I'm going to vote after I watch them again, especially since I haven't watched two of them in a long time.

After watching them I decided to cast my vote for the Last crusade. The other two were okay, but, as Helel might have eluded to, Sean Connery's role seemed to have more chemistry than those in the other movies.

Still, after nineteen years, I hope the next movie won't be a disappointment.

It probably will disappoint, Nikkou. The level of expectations of hardcore fans together with the somewhat outdatedness of the old ones should ensure that it will not live up to expectations, but i hope it does.

As for which movie is the best i am strongly in favour of the Last Crusade. Sean Connery as Henry Jones Sr. is great and adds a great deal to the character of Indiana Jones himself by establishing a proper context for him. Also the father is quite entertaining on his own. Raiders of the Lost Ark is also decent, but the Temple of Doom is a quite bad movie in my opinion, it has a nonsensical story, an overreliance on bad special effects and a complete lack of ultimate evil, that is nazis. Everything is better if the enemies are nazis, i am sure of it.

Yeah; you can't go wrong with nazis. XD

But you're probably right about its potential of being below expectations. For one, the two with the nazis involved controversial/sacred/hot button plots. Whatever you want to call them; the ark of the covenant and the holy grail are the sort of things people'd rather not touch (well, at least in America, and under the context used for the holy grail). That seemed to be a part of their success.

I don't have too many complaints with the Temple of doom, but there are a few. The lady, and Indiana's interest in her, just didn't seem right. Plus, I wonder why her heart wasn't removed... Must've been a plot hole, since she couldn't survive without it. ;/

It's been well over 12 years since i've seen any of the movies x.x so what I remember is probly all three jumbled into one crazy Indiana Jones-fest. I was a big fan back in those days though... for as much of a fan you can call an 8 year old with a low attention span =p
