Help me find a Wii. :O

Okay, so... I can afford one, now. However, finding one seems to be a problem. It seems like my best bet is online, but my reliable sources are limited. And I can't afford the stupid family bundle thing that Gamestop will have available in a few weeks. (I mean, really, it's just stupid to have that and that alone.) I haven't exhausted all of the local stores yet but so far it's, "we don't have any and we have no idea when we'll have more."

Well, I've got one right here in my dorm room....oh.

Hmm..Walmart usually recieves shipments on Tuesday Thursday mornings-midday, so check around 2 or so....other than that, perhaps Best Buy, Walmart, Target, online, etc...with Ebay, assuming you have an account, it's still risky in some cases, especially if the Wii is as popular as everyone is suggesting.

Personally, I haven't seen such evidence, but I haven't been looking for a wii at my last few Walmart runs, so I'm not sure.

It must be popular enough. About twenty million units have been sold so far, more than twice the number of PS3 units, and about three million more than the 360 despite being around for about a year longer.

I haven't tried Wal-mart yet, so that will have to wait until tomorrow. I've found some Wii consoles on the 'net but they're all in stupid bundles that I can't afford. I can afford a Wii at its base price of $250, plus a game or two, not $350 (if the source is trustworthy) or $400-$450 because of the stupid bundling. What in the world is up with this bundling crap? I don't remember that nonsense before the 128-bit era. Then again, before then I wouldn't have been able to notice such a thing, anyway. Still, it's highly annoying, knowing that there's an available system but it has strings attached. -_-

I've seen quite a few at walmarts. They seem to get them quite frequently.

You may just wanna call around to stores periodically. That's how I got mine.

Yeah, calling it will have to be. So far every conceivable place has said the same thing: that there were none and they wouldn't know when they'd get more until a shipment happens to come in. Is that how it's supposed to work? O.o

I could get one on the Internet but the only ones available are assholes that bought them at $250 and sell them for at least $100+. >.<

I was getting the same answers when I was looking. I think its to either avoid the store being burned down if they don't get them, or they actually don't know. Either way, if you keep calling a variety of places, eventually you'll get one.

I guess it might be a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. Let's say that they claim to have no idea. I've thought about what good that would do, but aside from a few less callers I have no idea. It shouldn't stem requests for pre-orders or holdings, really, and people will are likely to call back again and again to check for availability. On the other hand it may inspire people to see for themselves, which gets people into their stores. Now let's say that they knew and proposed a date. That should kill the calls but the store will be asking for a strenuous day when the goods hit the shelves.

Well, what with the income tax return (or whatever it is) on its way, I'll probably end up buying a Wii that's higher than the base value because I doubt I'll have any luck finding one for $250 anywhere, except, perhaps, with a lucky, winning bid at Ebay. But I'll still keep my eyes peeled because I'd love to get one that hasn't been raped by greed. ;/

I'd love to see how many of those were left after that day, Mendo, depending on the season/time of the year.

Regardless, The one that was purchased for my brother was at a Gamestop, on account that I have friends that work there and inform me whenever something interesting comes in stock, which is a slight edge up, so my advice: Get to know someone on the staff. Having friends in the right places never hurts.

(Granted, those friends of mine I've known since Middle School, so that may be harder for other to manage- but regardless, it's nice.)

Well, miraculously, it seems I can even afford a PS3, back before the price dropped. So it's likely that I'll just nab something from Ebay or Amazon instead of waiting on a pre-order list that I'm probably too late to hitch a ride on for the upcoming shipment of merchandise.

(I don't know a soul, and probably never will. There's a name for people like me, who are, for all intents and purposes, inept with matters concerning the "real world" and other such things. The name, however, escapes me. I'm a lost cause. )

I can now rest in peace, for I now have a Wii. Although I'd've rather have liked it to come with an owner's manual and whatnot. And the box. Oh, well... I got it for $200 and that's a lot better than what I've been contemplating to spend in order to have one.

Still, can anyone tell me how I can get it hooked up to the Internets?

I believe you can connect with any wireless router, providing you have high speed internet. I know Nintendo sells USB devices that create the Wi-fi connection, but when I tried that, it didn't work at all.
