Rebuild of Evangelion

Postby Gee-chan » Mon Apr 21, 2008 10:31 am

It is not only 4 days until the DVD of Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0: You are (not) alone is released in japan and I, personally, cannot wait. Because it is already in Region 2 I will be able to order it straight away and due to the fact that first time it was shown is was subbed in english and korean I am assuming that it will be pre-subbed.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

I torrented a fansubbed version awhile back--it was pretty good, methinks, if really, really familiar--that is to say, there aren't too many story or even scene alterations in this first one yet...it sure looks good, though, and what stuff was new was...intriguing.

The later movies are where things will begin to change, since there's going to be one or two more pilots for Shinji to have a harem with, and as such, more Evas for our view pleasure. Oh, and epic fights. Lotsa that sort of shtuff.

Aye, I agree. the bits that were altered/added looked like they could, (and probably are) important down the line. Also, at the very end there's a little teaser for the next movie with lots of new stuff--it looks awesome.

Well, there's no need to wait really--they came out a month or two ago, if you want to torrent 'em or something...

I would torrent if I could, but the best connection I can get is 50kbs on a very good day. I hate living in a small village.

Ahh--that would take awhile then.
Hm...
If you want, I could send the the SRT file that I have--that is to say, the subtitles file that I have that goes with the raw video file...Even assuming that you can somehow rip the video off of your DVD, I'm not sure how to put the subtitles in--with mine they have the same name and are in the same folder, but I dinnae know if it's generally that simple...:/

Some better subs for Rebuild of Eva popped up on Sunday, so I finally managed to watch the first movie- and I have to say, I was impressed.

The first third of the movie was basically just improved visuals though the Berserker Sequence was a littttttle different. But after that, things started getting changed up, until it was blatantly obvious when the '6th' angel showed up.

That had to be one of the coolest battles I have seen in a while. The way the angel shapeshifted through various forms for attacking and defending itself was quite cool, as was just all the firepower that was thrown at it- rather than just a sniping match like before, it was an all out war. I was immensely pleased at how they turned one of the less interesting battles into one of my favorites, by far now.

As for what's next, and various other theories as to why some of the things have changed- I won't say here, but peoples are free to IM me to chat for hours and hours about Rebuild of Evangelion or Eva in general. It's my favorite anime for a reason. :D

I just watched it on Crunchyroll and I have to say I was very impressed. That last fight was especially spectacular. What I want to know is; what on earth was that thing on the moon? I had a mask like Lilith's from NGA but it's build was more like that of Adam. Is it something that stands between? Or could it be the one to have created the others?

I'm not sure...I mean, if I recall correctly, they showed Shinji what in the old series would have been lilith, down in Central Dogma--except this time, it looked a bit different, and Misato called it Adam, so perhaps it is Lilith...? I dinnae have any idea why it's on the moon, though.

Oh yes, and for anyone skimming this topic or something, the above post may contain spoilers...>__>
