Duel of the Fates

Postby Feng » Fri May 02, 2008 7:52 pm

So what swordsman do you think would win in a duel? Link the Hero of Time? Or Sora the Keyblade Master? Choose carefully as their can be only one! Or then again maybe not. Maybe they could settle their differences over a nice cup of tea and a rousing game of Chinese Checkers.

Anywho to help clarify things this is a one on one swordfight with no outside help. No help from fairies, talking ducks or ummm... whatever the heck Goofy is. >_> Anywho to make things even more interesting the battle will take place in a place neither party has been to before... say the Devil's Playground from Wild ARMs: Alter Code F? For those unfamiliar with the game the arena is like the Colosseum from Kingdom Hearts only a tad smaller and with the occasional Metal Demon escaping from hell to get a rematch. Hidden Boss fights aside though it should be a level playing field for the two combatants.

Musashi, from Brave Fencer Musashi.

What? ;p

Okay, okay... If I were to consider that it was just skill using their weapons, with no magic and the like, then I would have to say that Link would win. I came to this conclusion since, while Link would get a boo-boo from a strike with the blunt key (I'm assuming it would be the initial, plot-central keyblade), his sharp sword, if it struck, would cause a serious wound and/or Sora's demise. Also, if Link were to have his shield with him, as would be normal, then Sora's chances of even scoring a hit plummet dramatically.

Then again, it depends on just which keyblade that Sora uses. Most of them, in my opinion, are either blunt and/or don't look like they can function as an effective weapon and would do better as something to put up somewhere so you can an look at them.

Link. He could own Sora without his sword. Just grab the keyblade and smack him with it.

For the sake of this duel lets say that Sora is using Ultima Weapon. Meanwhile Link is using his trusty Master Sword and Hylian shield.

Anywho the reason for this poll is that I've encountered many debates on which of the two were superior with most people somehow going for Sora because of his allies ect. ect. So here I'm wondering what the fight would be like if it was just one on one with just swords/Keyblades. No Navi or Anthropomorphic Ducks assisting.

There's better than the master sword. There's always better than the master sword. ;p Or the games that have one, anyway. Though I haven't actually played all of the games to know for sure, but still. More times than not, I'm betting. ;p

Yeah, the argument is easily in Sora's favor with two stooges helping out, no matter who they might be. Although, if anyone cared about Link, they would have given him plausible allies as well. Or have four Links against Sora and his two stooges, if you know what I'm saying.

Ugh. Ugggggggh. Neither of those characters please me, at all. XD

I'm fairly sure there's some other swordsman out there that could make use of John Williams' music for an epic sword fight. :P

I can understand that Helel. Next time I'll try to throw in more swordsmen and such.

If I'm thinking of the right John Williams, then that won't do at all. That's epic? Pah!

Either way, my knowledge of video game swordsmen/swordswomen are limited.

Perhaps just a demon character, from Disgaea, who is proficient with swords. And is at level 9999. Dimension slash, anyone?

Sweet! Zed just isn't Zed without some flamenco music playing in the background.

Link. Sora's fancy key's got nothin' on Link's Master Sword. Plus, Link's faster, stronger, and smarter. ...And substantially less whiny.
