"Damn" muttered Cronus, "Didn't want to have to do this."
"This is the final time I shall ask you" said Pluto, "Will you come at me? Or shall I kill you where you stand?"
"Yeah" said Cronus, "Great choice you've given me. Ok, let's see what this body can do."
In the back of her head there was some knowledge about what her powers were and a little information on how to use them, however all it told her was how to focus her energy, the rest was up to her.
Using the knowledge she had she brought out her staff's true nature; the scythe she had seen in the recollection and leapt higher and faster than should have been possible, swinging the scythe in a wide sweeping attack, only for it to be easily blocked.
"Too slow" said Pluto, and rammed her spare fist straight into Cronus' face, sending her crashing to the ground.
"Guess I'll try using my powers..." said Cronus, struggling to her feet. "Festinatio!" she yelled and everything around her started to grind to a halt, including Pluto. Using the opportunity, Cronus leaped up again and knocked Pluto to the ground. When she landed, everything returned to normal as time returned to it's natural flow.
Pluto immediately got to her feet and pointed her staff forwards. "Dead scream" she said calmly as her attack ripped towards Cronus, who was engulfed in the beam of energy. The pain Cronus felt was excruciating. It was as though she was being torn apart at every point on her body as her mind was flooded with the cacophonous roar of a thousand damned souls, her own screams lost to her ears. After what seemed like an eternity but was only a few seconds, the onslaught ended and Cronus sank to the ground.
"Are you done already?" asked Pluto. Her breathing was heavy. With the energies of the Garnet Orb being distorted by the presence of two who could wield it, she has forced to rely on only her own power, which put quite a strain on her strength.
Cronus slowly staggered to her feet, using her staff (upon which the scythe blade had faded) as a support. "I'm not done yet" she gasped as she stood upright. Concentrating she managed to summon the blade again and struck it into the ground. "Damno queritor!" she screamed and the ground shook. Suddenly a skeletal had burst from the ground, latching onto Pluto's ankle, quickly followed by another. Within a second she beat them off but more rose to take their place. One reared up behind her, grabbing her shoulder and dragging her to the ground as more and more emerged to grab and claw and tear at any part of her they could reach.
Slowly Cronus walked towards her struggling opponent who was putting up a relentless fight, but for each hand she destroyed two or three more took it's place until she was held fast, all the while the hands continued to tear away at her until suddenly they stopped. Inches away from Pluto's throat was the flickering blade of Cronus's scythe.
"Kill me then" said Pluto.
Cronus was silent
"Kill me!" yelled Pluto, "I would rather die by your blade than be ripped apart!"
"Why?" asked Cronus
"Why?" said Pluto, "Do you think I wish to be torn apart slowly? If I am to die here, then kill me outright."
"No" said Cronus
"What?" said Pluto
"I said no." repeated Cronus
She withdrew her scythe.
"I will not kill you."
"One of us must die here" said Pluto
"I refuse" stated Cronus
"Why?" asked Pluto
"Because I do not want to kill you" said Cronus, "Unlike some of the others, I do not relish in ending life, nor do I crave the power that you hold. I have no right to kill you, for it would be meaningless."
"Then what?" spat Pluto, "You will enslave me? Imprison me? Make me suffer for all time?"
"No" said Cronus, "You may do what you will, under one condition.
"And what is that?" asked Pluto
Cronus returned to her normal form. As she did so the hand crumbled to dust, releasing the scout they held. Lina bent over and offered out her hand.
"Teach me" she said, "Tell me what I was, what I am, and what I may become."
