Eventually Lina got up and left the room. She was still tired but at least she could now focus properly. Sure enough, Setsuna's office was next door. Lina knocked.
"Come in" replied Setsuna from inside.
Lina entered and closed the door behind her. Looking around she saw that the office was disturbingly normal.
"Ah, Lina. You feeling better?"
"Yeah, I guess. I think you said you wanted to show me something."
"Yes. The Gate."
"What is this Gate?"
"I would be better to take you there." Setsuna pulled the Garnet Orb out of her pocket. "Assume your true form. Together, we shall have the stone take us to it's origin. Don't worry, no-one will see us. The school has closed for the day."
'Too late' thought Lina, but tranaformed with Pluto anyway.
"Place your hand on the orb" said Pluto, "Ask it to take you to the gate."
Lina closed her eyes and asked in her head. At first it refused, but when Pluto asked as well she felt a rush of power and a sudden bout of disorientation.
When she opened her eyes she found herself a collosal door of dark stone. It's twin gates each held a thin slot and half of a carving of a huge eye which met in the middle to form a whole. Above the eye was a hanging arch which reached down half way, ending in a round panel with an indent waiting for something. The sides of the gate were huge grey pillars, ornately carved with symbols of a time long forgotten, which towered upwards to support a wide stone slab which acted as the roof of the structure. Carved into this roof, in a language unlike anything seen by mortal eyes was written "Those who fall before the gate, bow down and see your fate."
Cronus looked on in awe.
"This is not the gate I guarded." said Pluto, "Nor is it the one Cronus oversaw. This is the gate as it was before even Cronus' predecessor found it. This is how it was when it was forged. This is the gate with no guardian, and this makes it more powerful than ever before."
