OOC: I'll take that as a yes? This is a bit different than what I proposed before, with slightly different implications. PM me if you want a few more details.
Looking at the gate, Cronus had a sudden thought.
"Hey, Pluto." she said, "Don't those slots look like key-holes? What do you think would happen if we used our staves as the keys?"
"I have no idea." said Pluto, "I suppose we could try it."
Cronus walked forwards and tried to place her staff in the left slot, but it didn't fit. However when she tried the other it slotted in perfectly. Pluto followed suit and placed her staff in the left slot where it too fitted perfectly. Both of them turned their weapons simultaneously and each felt a click but there was something missing, it was like the door was open but there was nothing to push it with.
"Do you think that the Garnet Orb would fit in that recess there?" asked Cronus
"It looks the right size and shape." said Pluto, "Although, as this is something using both our powers we should put it in together."
Cronus took hold of the orb in Pluto's hand as the pair floated upwards to place the orb in it's resting place. As soon as they did they felt a flow of power go through the gate. Returning to the ground they each took hold of their weapons and pushed. The gate opened effortlessly to reveal a dull grey world, overshadowed by clouds. Suddenly however the clouds parted as a huge pillar of shining light tore down from the heavens. Far below, tiny figures rushed to stand in the light, far more than would be able to fit in such a space. Above a shadow gathered as countless winged monstrosities flocked to the scene while the ground-dwellers stopped. It was the flyers who took the first shots, each one launching a bolt of energy to the ground creating a sea of fire that evaporated everything caught inside. However more and more ground creatures swarmed in to take their place, each one returning fire of their own, knocking flyers out of the sky, slowly destroying the vast swarm even as they themselves were annihilated. Eventually, the winged ones were gone, but before the last one even fell, the groundlings turned upon each others with claw and tooth; ripping, tearing, bolting down the flesh of their brethren. And still more came, charging to the center of the stage over the fallen wrecks of their slain kin, each fighting a desperate and hopeless as they became part of the hoard that massacred itself. The creatures of the ground varied as much as night and day but each held the same, reptilian, almost draconic texture. The large fell before the small as the victors grew stronger only to die in vain by newcomers. Suddenly the light vanished, and the air was filled with a single unified howl of dispair from the battleground below, as far in the distance could be seen the faint glow of a mountain that moved and drew breath.
"What is this?" asked Cronus, sickened, "If I did not know better, I wound say this was hell."
"It may be" said Pluto, "The hell of a world far outside of our comprehension."
"But I recognized those beasts" said Cronus, "They are the same creatures that our previous selves fought. We just looked into the world of our enemy. But now I find myself asking, who is the villian here? Them for trying to move to our world? Or us for keeping them locked up in that place?"
"Let's leave this place." said Pluto, prompting the two to close the door, "We need to get back to earth."
Within a minute, Lina and Setsuna were stood in the office again.
"Are you alright?" asked Setsuna
"I don't think I will be able to sleep easily ever again." said Lina, "That scene comes to me every time I close eyes. It frightens me, doesn't it you?"
"I have seen many terrible things" said Setsuna, "I am unable to feel that kind of horror any more. If I could, it would have driven me mad long ago."
