My perception is that the Playstation will definitely have a greater variety of games, and probably an audience equal to, or greater than, Nintendo's at some point. But I also think that the PS3 entered this contest with debilitating flaws, and RPGs already suffer from a minimal audience, depending on what kind of RPG we're talking about.

How so?

Well, for one, someone just decided to pack together a bunch of accomplishments ("innovations", if you will) without the root causes, and the root causes are the true innovations because they introduced the new ways in which to make those things possible. For instance, where would the feminization of the work force be without the suffrage, or what would we have without the emancipation proclamation and the end of segregation? I mean, post-Fordism just seems to state that the result is innovation, rather than the means responsible for the result which, itself, was due to innovation in thought.

The result is the innovation. A cause may prompt innovation. Besides the point, post-fordism; the idea that transportation can be less expensive then labor and thus spreading out the production process over a global scale, is an innovation. Yes, it largely owes itself to increasing transportation abilities, but, to state that only one thing in a chain is a true innovation seems flawed.

Just because suffrage was a form of innovation doesn't mean feminization of the work force can't be a further innovation. The fundamental nature of progress is that it keeps happening, building upon previous work. Ultimately everything in human society can be linked as a result of something else. Does that make the result less important? No. It simply establishes a relationship.

Don't be silly. Post-fordism is inseperatably related to the prospective success of the PS3 and consequently future games that may or may not exist for it.

Either way, I'll continue this thing about innovation in the Tea room, whenever I'm not lazy or something. I'll help us get back on track.

Do you think that Disgaea 3 will be a good game to buy? The second one disappointed me.

The first was a classic. The second was a good game, a really good game. I'm willing to guess that if you hadn't played the first first you may very well have liked the second.

As for the third, a lot of the things I've seen in the preview seem awesome, especially in regards to stacking your characters.

The set up for the story in Disgaea 3 already has my interest. Out to kill your pop because he deleted your save but in order to do so you must become a hero. Has my attention as I've had my elaborate built up game saves deleted by others before and the urge to do that is very strong.

Hmmmm... It has been a while since I've looked into Disgaea 3 (since before the release of the PS3, to be exact <_<; ), but seeing the videos that are out now it doesn't seem too bad. But, beyond that little tidbit about the plot, I could still get bitten.

I didn't like Disgaea 2 because it was too short (and thus also didn't have much in the way of plot), and it ended without delving further into Adell's parentage. And a cool female equivalent to the Majin would have been nice, too.

I did like the plot surrounding the real Zenon, though. And the part where the Dark Sun can transform characters. ;p

How much further did it have to delve into his parentage? His parents were humanoid demons who he killed in his quest since they were being controlled by the fake Zenon.

Also: I have Disgaea 3 for the PS3, but it's all in Japanese, a language which I do not speak. Gameplay-wise it's great, but I obviously have no idea about the story. One big change is that mana is a lot more important than it used to be since now all of your spells/skills are purchased/upgraded with it.

He didn't know that they were his parents, and thus never realizes that he's a demon. At the very least it would have been nice to see how he reacts as one of the various endings.

Mana, huh? I wonder if that will make it easier. I mean, eventually it's easy to get a crapload of mana... In the first two games, at least. Millions worth of unused mana. <_<;

Well, ability costs go up fairly fast, but at higher levels it will definitely make it easier to get all of a classes spells quickly. Although it's also more heavily based on the the tier of your classes. For instance, a basic warrior will only be able to get 2 sword special attacks, tier 2 will get a third, tier 4 will get a fifth, and tier 6 will get the ultimate ability if they can. And of course, reincarnation means mana usage and resetting your mana, so once again mana is more important. Overall, I think it's neat, and the system also makes it so that lower level skills are more powerful than higher level ones if you pump alot of mana into them to upgrade. (Like spell levels before, except more significant)
