I'm not poking, I'm just really curious. Every other forum I've ever been to has had to ban people. I didn't think anyone would be banned here, because I've seen just about everyone here follows the rules. I'm not attempting to aggravate or tempt anyone, so I'm sorry if it seems like I am.

As usual, I seem to be a master at using terms that can be misinterpreted. I was merely meaning that it can get ugly when people recount events that made them angry enough to actually bring down a ban hammer and its not the best of ideas to stir such things up. I did not mean to accuse you of any wrong doing in any way.

Raleigh, I'd appreciate it if you didn't discourage the asking of questions ^_^ Never be afraid to ask a question Angie, the worst that will happen here is that a mod/admin will pop in and tell you to take it to PM for whatever reason.

As for the how it happened, they broke the rules to an extent to which the recourse was to have them banned. I won't name names for a couple reasons (though one of the people banned I cant actually name his name...it was a collection of letters I do not recall off the top of my head)

Anyway, since my time here, and assuming that my memory is serving me right (and it'd be a surprise if I had much of any processing power left), I'd say we've had (at least) four permanent bans, not including any self-imposed banning that may have occurred once (memory's foggy on that one).

One of them, if I remember correctly, was a Neo Nazi or something. It was the earliest ban that I know of, so it's no surprise that the details have slipped my mind. I just remember Coruscate having fun with them before they were banned. Another got banned for the way they commented on things, and generally acted rude, without learning for each time they were called on it. Another was due to their actions in IRC, which could have lead to something illegal. The other that I can recall is the most recent, for continually doing what trolls do best as well as saying things that angered other users. The last one we had banned once for a week, and then we (sort of planned on) banned them for a few months. But, when the time came around to lift the band, no one felt like it, so...

EDIT: I hope what I mentioned was alright, Xia. I'm not the sort of person who's politically, socially or morally correct.

If you never ask a question, you'll never know if you can ask it. But if you think the question shouldn't be public, by all means PM it to me. Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD, as you probably are aware.

But yeah, cant stress this enough. Have a question? Ask, PM, Comments Room, Gen Disc, Tea Room, wherever you think appropriate. If it isn't exactly appropriate for where it was posted, then it'll get moved with little fuss.

You mentioned things quite fine. Giving the reason for someone's ban is never bad, as it lets people know what not to do. And its not like they will protest it, as they are banned ^_^

I don't see why not. Or, at least I prefer to think that it's better for some of the same sort of topics to be allowed in more than one forum so people won't have such a problem figuring out where to post it in the first place.

I've been personally banned from a number of forums over the years, though generally the reasons were pretty flimsy.

I was actaully banned from MSF, althought it was a self imposed ban, becasue I didn't plan on ever coming back as an active member. I still lurked and posted durring the ban.
