Well, I'm back and I have good news! I now have conclusive proof that mother nature is in fact a mean spirited, psychopathic bitch! Ya see, I live way down in Southern Louisiana (i.e. directly in the path of the late Hurricane Gustav), and I lost power Sunday night. At first, I was cool with it; after all, I've been through a fair number of hurricanes in my short life so this was pretty much standard fair. So we go for a few days without power (keep in mind that this is without any sort of generator) and on Thursday night, power finally returns to my neighborhood...EXCEPT for my house. Apparently, some vital part of the transformer that links to my house had been blown out of place by the storm. Now, while me and my roomies are happy we didn't have any major damage or sustained any physical injury, but needless to say, we were all pretty pissed of to see that we were the only house on the block without power. So we call in and the power company said we may have to wait till next Wensday before they can get to our house. Initially we were EXTREMELY mad, but once we all considered that the power company was trying to deal with all the damage caused by Gustav so no biggie, right? And, one of our neighbors was nice enough to lend us her generator so at least we'd have some power. So everything is going more or less good when one of my roomies runs into a whole mess of Entergy trucks parked up town, and naturally he rushes over to explain our situation. They say they'll get to us as soon as possible and go back to playing catch and drinking coffee. Seriously. It wouldn't take these guys more than 5 minutes to fix our transformer, but they we're apparently too busy at the time.

Long story short, we all decided to fix the damn transformer themselves, and nearly got ourselves killed in the process. But we finally have power now and we're alive so yay!
