So, at the risk of veering a bit off topic, what does 'Keima' mean, anyhow?

Probably some title of office or something. I wouldn't be able to tell unless I actually saw the name in Japanese, instead of romaji. But I know one character for "kei" is punishment, which sounds about right for Xia. ;/

Of course, taken another way, "keima" can mean "horse race." ;p Well, it would be "keiba", but "ba" is the same character for "ma", which, in this case, means horse. I have no idea if the character for "kei" in "keiba/horse race" is the right one, though.

However, even when the true meaning is revealed, I'll use "horse race" because it will be more amusing.

Of course, since "kei" can mean "punishment", and "ma" can mean horse, one could say that I have an opportunity to beat a dead horse, here, with his name. ^^

"Ma" can also mean "demonic", can't it? Would that make her a "demonic punisher"?

Perhaps. It depends on the kanji used, since "ma" can mean "truth", "between", "demon", "horse", "flax", and possibly several other things I wasn't able to get a definition for. And I don't even want to get into "kei"... There seems to be many more possible definitions for that one. I wouldn't be able to guess what "keima" means unless I were to see it in Japanese.

Knowing him, it could also be some way of saying "Lucifer", if you were to use 軽魔, which might mean something like "a demon of light." *Shrugs*

He will probably find my musings amusing, though. But I bet it has something to do with management, or a police-like station, since I've seen several words with "kei" that have to do with a managing position, or something that administrates the law.

Ah--Kanji, I see! Curse Japanese and it's lengthy, convoluted alphabets...As opposed to the medium-length convoluted English alphabet, of course.

It all probably works out the same, in the end. Or, at least, to each one born and raised with one, it comes more easily than those who learn it as a second language in adulthood (or childhood; but especially the former, it seems).

Keima just means 'she of large biscuits'

Look at her profile picture alone, I mean, come on. It's obvious. :P

Then we must learn the stuff that bypasses the need for memorizing so much. ;p

Well, that's why I have a dictionary, and a computer that understands kanji better then I do--doesn't make for really quick reading, though.
...
Wait! A computer chip in the brain! I'm sure that wouldn't have any problems with it!

I meant learning the pieces that make up most kanji, and in turn those kanji that make up more kanji. ;p It's not too different from learning hiragana; you just put things together in bundles instead of one character at a time.

But computer brain chips!

Well, perhaps that would be easier, and rather less life-threatening, depending...
