OOC: Sorry for being away so long, I have been suffering from a terminal case of block. I shall do my best to break through it now, get some painkillers please, this may hurt.
I shall be adding to this post as I write it so early on it make look incomplete.
It was around this point, now that he had lost sight of both Serene and any idea of where he was, that something in Casey's mind forced him to shift priorities towards the threatening voice coming from somewhere nearby, shrouded in the thick fog.
"Oh crap...." he said. Perhaps it would have been better if I hadn't got up today, or better still, this whole week.
Absol was led into a small room with a hospital bed and a window covering most of the far wall. Silhouetted against this window was a dark female figure wearing a rather translucent gown of some sort.
"I never would have though it would turn out like this" said the silhouette, "I have not had mortal sleep for so long...."
"Tina?" asked Absol quietly.
"Tina...." said the shadow, "It had been so long since I was called that. This place, has brought back so much of me, so much that was lost."
"You've been alone since you left havn't you?" asked Absol
"No" said Tina, "There was once Darkrai and Giratina, my teachers, and Tom and Gengar."
"What happened to them?" asked Absol
"Their teaching complete, Darkrai and Giratina left to retire to their own abodes, wherever they may be." said Tina, "As for Tom and Gengar, they....they're gone now."
"Gone?" asked Absol,
"He drove them out,"said Tina, her voice was void of emotion even as she spoke of her two counterparts. "then 'they' took them."
"They?" asked Absol, "Who are 'they'?"
"Mortals call them Shades, if they even name them." said Tina, "They are one of the major driving forced behind life and death itself. When a being dies, it's soul will cross over to my realm where it shall drift until it is collected and cleansed. They will feed upon the soul, leaving it clean and ready for rebirth."
"I'm sorry" said Absol. "What happened up there? What were you fighting?"
"Shades" said Tina, "I was driving them back to my world"
"But what are they doing here?" asked Absol, "If what you said is true then they should be staying in their world."
"The shades also have another role." said Tina, "The energy they collect from dead souls is gathered in a limbo world and slowly filters out into the others. They keep the balance of the world. When this balance is disrupted, they will act radically to restore it."
"What broke the balance?" asked Absol.
"We did" said Tina, "When we were on Mount Coronet we forced the hand of god. We drove Arceus to borrow some of the power that the Shades gather. He has done this before, but every time he has gone into a state of near-death, giving everything he can to repay the debt, even if it means allowing the shades to take a town or ecosystem to do it."
"But Arceus is dead" said Absol, "Shouldn't his soul have been able to pay it back?"
"Yes, it would, had there not been interference" said Tina, "Arceus' soul never made it to the spirit realm, instead it was captured, and sealed into an abominatable blade, worn as a trophy by an old friend."
"Aiko's sword?" asked Absol
"The very same" said Tina, "Because of her, all life on this planet is at risk. Without their energy being repaid, the Shades are on a feeding frenzy and now that they have devoured all usable souls in the spirit realm, they are coming here to take living souls."
"So they attacked here" summised Absol, "Where will they be going next?"
"Ironically, when Aiko decided to intervene she manged to reinforce an existing failsafe." said Tina, "The energy she released was fed into a seal between the worlds that had been weakened....for various reasons... For now, they cannot come through, but nor can I go back."
"What are you hiding from me?" asked Absol, "I've known you for years, I know when you are not telling me something. What is it?"
"Typical Absol" muttered Tina, "Do you remember when I fought with the Kyogre hybrid so long ago?"
"Yes"
"During that fight, both Tom and Gengar aided me by lending me their strength, but when I demanded even more, I awoke something terrible." recounted Tina, "At the time, when I fell unconscious, they managed to drive it back, but later on it received a great power boost."
"Are you talking about your reaction to the plate shards?" asked Absol fearful for her friend.
"Yes" said Tina, "That time it was you who managed to give us the chance to drive it back, but now...."
"They're gone now" said Absol, "and you are fighting alone."
"And I am slowly losing." said Tina.
"Tina.....
