"Well... it was worth a try, eh? Looks like it wont be that easy, chaps..."

He looks around at the others. "But still... no hard feelings, yeah? By the sound of it we all have a game to play before the end..."

Looking at Lawrence. "Though something bothers me... why does the old coffin stomper have us play his game, then not lay out all the rules for us right off?"

Lawrence smiled again. "Yes... but I'm not allowed to unless you ask the right questions."

Emil looked at everyone on the table with a concerned face. This was going to be way harder than expected, but he quite didn't get something. "So old man. What, we have to cage up everyone in the basement or make them disappear? How exactly do we win?"

"As the note said, through whatever means necessary. Should anyone die I would be obligated to call the police of course; but, the mansion is rather huge so if you hid it well the servants might not find the body until you are a very rich person. A more pragmatic approach would be to broker deals with several other people and decide, seven days from now, who will get what making sure to all but exclude two of you. Locking someone in their room for the key decision could work as well. Quite frankly, there are hundreds of ways to win. A majority of those present at the end of the seventh day have the right to decide what happens with the money. I don't care how you do it. Lawrence abruptly laughed, ostensibly to break the tension, though it would probably do the opposite. Indeed, a few people seriously looked like they were considering murder.

Really, unless any of you are psychotic enough to actually kill someone, the worst you can expect is a free seven day vacation with world class facilities and servants waiting on you hand and foot, along with a small consolation prize of a few hundred thousand dollars. Compete, be vicious, or treat this vacation like a spa.

Revealing details only as they were questioned was rather amusing Lawrence noted. He should have begun acting like this years ago. It was so amusing to watch them

Lawrence only made Emil even more nervious that was he was already. "This isn't a 'spa' this is more like a survival test." He though as he was already chewing on this thumb nail. He's gonna have to stay alert and be careful with who he talks.
Emil nodded as Lawrence finished explaining.

/Will's eyes widen. This sounded...Well, ridiculous. For this much money though...he suspected that the ridiculous would become possible.
Frowning, he looked back at the estate. He didn't want to kill anyone--but he wasn't about to back out for that much money.../

"Well...When do we start, then?"

Lawrence nodded. "Today. Well, the competition will end exactly seven days from 12 midnight tonight; but as soon as you go to your rooms, you are welcome to start. We will meet for a few hours every day, and my schedule is open should anyone decide to come talk to me. There are servants who will show you around the mansion should you wish to go somewhere.

Now, are there any more questions?" his tone was ambiguous, he might have been hinting that he wanted the others to ask something of him, he might not.

Emil tries to lighten up the tense atmopshere around the table. "So... can I have the cute maids show me to my room?"

Jacob grins at Emil's statement. "Eh if you have any around I wouldnt mind making their aquaintance."
