She has WAY too many clothes on. And she's that pasty white and grey color. That just can't be healthy.

I wasn't even supposed to come into work today!

Anime Expo 2004 was a blast!

So yes. I was Frylock, and I spent 4 days making that out of cardboard, red upholstery leather, fun foam, a butchered backpack, velcro, and lots (LOTS) of hot glue.

It has nothing to do with MSF, and is entirely off topic, but hey. XD I'm proud that I managed to finish the damned thing. So now it's time to get cracking on my artwork again!

How many licks does it take...?

Postby Geckojira » Wed Jul 07, 2004 10:46 pm

Well, I've been uber busy storyboarding one of my Portfolio pieces, but somehow inbetween, I managed to draw and ink something for someone. It was a request from someone on the board, and I finally got around to it. I felt I needed practice drawing a male anyhow, so I finished this up a little while ago!

Say hello to Shuffle!

In all honesty, I'm not -entirely- happy with the pose, but I'm satisfied. I messed up on the shoes, and the right hand/arm doesn't look the way I want it after scanning. The ring and pinkie fingers are supposed to be tucked into his pocket.

Yay for my new Copic Multi-liners from Anime Expo!

OH! And soon, I should be getting in a copy of Comicworks and CGIllustrator! I just ordered both from Deleter, a company that produces Japanese art supplies. I had my eye on Comicworks since I visited Japan in 2000, but it's just not been translated. Another gem from Anime Expo! So now I'll be able to color things a bit better (I hope), with practice. CGIllustrator is sort of like Painter, but about $140 cheaper. As for Comicworks, it lets you tone images in the manga style. ^_^ I can't wait for them to come in!

Why does Shuffle remind me of a friendlier Kyo Kusanagi?

You mean three Filipino girls, right?

Kaji wanted a design for his superheroesque character, shuffle. :> We decided on something not too flashy, and the attire I described matched Kyo Kusanagi's pretty well. I have a jacket like his in my closet (which I no longer wear, fortunately), and thought, hey, it'd be neat for a 'casual dress' hero!

And wah la. Shuffle was doodled and inked.

Woo! My CGIllust program finally came in (sweet sweet Deleter), so I decided to try and finish my last 'free commission' thingy for Hakumei. I haven't touched it in a while since I've been so busy, but I just sat down and finished it, along with a background and whatnot so I could figure out this new painting program.

So, what can I say about it?

A pain. It's such a pain, since it's so different from Photoshop. XD Ah well, it's very useful, and I thoroughly enjoyed doodling the background. I hated drawing in the chains though. And to think, they're not even very visible because of the blurring effect. Hmph.

The female in the image was hand drawn. The rest was all done in CGIllust. How long did it take? A long time. Because of the stupid chains. And figuring out how to use the darned program. =P

There you go, Hakumei! =D Sorry it took so long!
