So... There's an anime out by Type-Moon. It's main character is named Shiki. Shiki has the power to 'see death' and therefore kill anyone by cutting their death. Her mentor is a powerful sorceress......

Aside from the fact that half the plot elements from this were recycled into Tsukihime I've found most of the movies released so far to be pretty amazing, increasingly so with every release. (The first one was decent, the fifth one was freaking outstanding.)

The only real weak point of the series is that it is told in a completely non-linear fashion, a la Haruhi, for some reason.

Once the backstory is out of the way, the characters in general are all really really cool with how they develop and everything. That and the Shiki in this arc is so much more interesting the more well known Shiki in my opinion. Far more powerful in my opinion as well.
