OOC:...umm...the rope was on the other cliff, we are climbing a slope....oh well, I'll let you edit in your own time
The advance was quick, the barrier of air leading the way much in the manner of a phalanx, however, due to it's nature, there were gaps in it's swirling pattern. Despite this however, the arrows that were fired into it were all thrown far off course, with the exception of the bolt of the crossbow, it's sheer power driving it through the maelstrom. It was through sheer fortune that the slight angle it was blown off meant is shot over their heads.
From behind Landara could see the motions of the barrier before her with strange clarity. It was almost as though something were guiding her eyes to the fleeting openings that presented themselves, and was showing her how to use them.
Readying an arrow she stood still, focusing herself, her sights on the man with the crossbow. Looking through the barrier she could see openings granting her a clear shot, regular but infrequent. Counting precisely the intervals between the opening she sought she waited until the right time. she had to make it with the next one. Any later and the weapon would be reloaded, and this time it would not miss.
All was silent to her as she fired. Nothing entered her senses but what she needed to perceive. The arrow sang through the air to the barrier, shaking as it hit the wall, but this was only for an instant as a spot of calm washed across it. It was only for a split second, but a spit second was more than enough. An instant later a man fell down, the shaft of the arrow buried in his throat, his life quickly choking out, and the weapon falling to the ground, loaded and ready to fire.
The group reached the cliff-top to a line of swords and spears.
"Ok, boys and girls" said Merk, "playtime."
