"The island is coming into sight, Master Takashi." A prim-and-proper butler figure stood in the doorway of the teenage Japanese-American's quarters, a tuxedoed arm beckoning for him to follow.
"Hai, Toguro-san," came the reply mid-yawn. Standing up and stretching, Takashi smiled at the butler. "And stop being so formal with me. You know I don't follow that fancy stuff like my parents."
*** About a month ago ***
It was a sunny day in Takashi's New Jersey suburb when the massive bird had landed on the sill of his open window. "What in the --" The young 'prodigy' gasped, eyeing the bird warily. As if anticipating this reaction, the magnificent avian beast seemed to bow, a rather fancy-looking roll of paper dropping from its beak. With a cry of triumph, it hopped off of the sill and took to the air once again. "That's... Interesting..." Takashi mused, picking the ornate parchment up off of his desk. Unraveling it carefully so as to not disturb the seemingly-ancient paper, he read the text...
"Honorable Takashi Morioka,
'It is our absolute honor to invite you to Waghorts Academy. Here at Waghorts, we pride ourselves on taking in the most upstanding young individuals the world over, from the grand United States to the ancient and honorable land of the Cherry Blossoms. Our facilities include...'
The letter continued on for several pages, listing several references, sources, et cetera. He sighed - another random school seeking to get a piece of his family's monetary pie. Ah, well...
*** Present day ***
That was how it had began, and now here he was; on his family's cruise ship, about to make port on some random island that housed Waghorts Academy. As he approached the long pier where the boat had landed, he smoothed his navy-blue T-Shirt out. Here goes nothing...
