Lightning struck something and made a mess of things. Fortunately it only ruined the three ports of our router, that our computers were connected to, and didn't zap our computers as well. (Though we did lose a cable box and a TV.) The fourth (and last) port worked fine, but after my mother set up a wireless connection on her computer, my computer wasn't able to get a connection. After a bunch of attempts I was unable to get it to work, so now I'm using a wireless connection as well. Bah, I say. Bah.

Yeah, it was just the cable. Our phones are also cable, so they got hit, too. Supposedly there's a way to prevent lightning strikes from traveling up the cable line, so we're looking into that.

Coincidentally, as a result of having our router changed (yet again), we found out that we haven't been getting the service that we've been paying for. So now we'll get a router that will handle the speed we're paying for, and some promotional service that's equal or better to what we have now, only it will cost eighty bucks for one year (which is nice).
