Bendak graped one of the hold bars as he released the safety restraints. Behind his helmet, he glanced out the ship towards the colony, ready for anything. "All right Ladies and Paladin, let's show whatever electrical failure this is who's boss!" he shouted.

((All right, I'ma be gone for a while Knight, moving in to a new apartment. Should I not respond between your responses, just assume I grunt and observe.))

The dropship flies over the colony... landing on the far side at the spaceport, and touching down. The ramp opens, revealing the round, empty landing pad... and the metal buildings beyond it.

Hawkins: "Move out, team..."

Bright: "You heard the man! GO GO GO GO!"

He waves them to the South Lock, the nearest door. It is raining, the skies dark... but the colony lights illuminate the area with a ghostly glow. Near the edge of the landing pad is a sign, reading: "Welcome to Hadley's Hope." Underneath it: "Pop: 158"

Claudia would set down on the other side of the colony. Rain spattering her helmet, she would find the streets of the colony... eerily empty as she raced towards the spaceport.

By the time Claudia's motorcycle-type vehicle had reached the streets of the colony, the Hyperion's dropship had already disappeared from the sky. Unfortunately for the bounty hunter, she didn't know exactly where the landing strip was. Despite all the tech, the only way to wipe the drops of rain from her visor was an old fashioned swipe of her hand across it every few minutes.

Her bike slowed down, her head turning from side to side, peering at the buildings. Already, she had a bad feeling about this. The dark sky, the rain, the eerie glow of the colony lights... and the silence. She didn't know about the loss of contact, she hadn't been expecting to find a place deserted.

Paula springs out of her seat, rifle in hand, as soon as the doors open, and immediately begins visually scanning the area (not that she can see much). She didn't think they were in any immediate danger, but that's the way ambushes work, isn't it? Better safe than sorry, as it goes.

She's silently grateful she went with her smaller open-faced headgear, instead of a helmet. The water on the visor would make seeing even more difficult.

Stryker walks out of the craft, a look of frustration as he looks outside knowing what stuff could be waiting for him out there, can be easily found on his face. Though at the moment is trying to keep an open eye around his surroundings. He is sure this mission wouldnt be anything out of the ordinary, but expirience says that anything could happen. All he wants at the moment is to lye down and watch some TV.

"Of course it is! Just see for yourself how powerless you are!"

The street rolls out in front of her... silent but for the constant low roar of the rain and wind. Though they wouldnt be too noisy on this type of day either. The streets were usually only used for traffic, the buildings themselves being mostly self contained. It was a precaution for terra forming colonies, and also the insular design made them more resistant to natural disasters.

If she kept her course, she would probably find the space port. She just had to keep going the direction she last saw the dropship heading in.

Their visual scan would reveal... nothing. All the doors are shut, metal storm shutters down over all of the windows. But more than that, the place almost exudes a feeling of emptiness.

Bright marches forward to the South Lock. He moves to the security panel, tries to open the door, and curses. "Its not taking my command. Someone has screwed with this door." He gets on the comm. "Razor! Get your arse out here. We need someone to slice this door open."

That was another indication something was off. Civilian equipment must have military security overrides built into them by law. Another result of the Colony Wars. No door, mainframe, or security system should give them any trouble... unless it was tampered with beforehand.

Eventually, she reached the landing zone of the space port. She couldn't actually see the dropship, but she could tell from the lighting beyond the buildings that they must have landed in there. The huge wheels of the bike skid along the wet road as she hits the brake, sliding to a stop alongside one of the buildings and climbs off it.

Pulling the rifle from her back, she made a double check that it had been set to stun. The bounty was for a live capture, not a kill. Playing about with a panel on her wrist switched the visor on her helmet to night vision mode, and set off through the wind and the rain, circling the space port from the outside, searching for any way inside, to get through to the landing zone.

Paula always made sure to keep her head on a swivel and her eyes moving while on a mission. She didn't plan on being stabbed in the back by a grunt soldier, even in the rain and dark. That would just be embarrasing.

"Something's going on here. All locks have military overrides. But who could've tampered with them? Were there any army outposts out here?"

All the time, her head just kept moving, her ponytail waving about behind her like a living thing.

((I CAN'T EXPRESS HOW MUCH I HATE MOVING!!))

Bendak was the first out of the dropship (though he was SOOO quiet and useless nobody noticed!) He stood in his armor, cursing the rain as it ran down the front of his helmet. The bulletproof face shield wasn't helping him all that much with no bullets flying. He walked to the South Lock where Bright was, "You think it might be an ambush Sir?" His casual, anti-authority attitude was put to the side in the face of the odd ambience of the place.

It takes awhile for Claudia to circle the complex, all the doors would be similarly locked down. Eventually she finds an alley which opens up onto the space port itself. She can see the dropship... and beyond it, the group of soldiers!

Bright shakes his head to Paula's question. "The nearest outpost is almost a years FTL travel from here. Why we were called in. We are the first people on the scene since the comm blackout. Stay frosty..."

Blade runs through the rain, cradling his electronics equipment and cursing. When he is in the shadow of the door, he takes out his toolkit. Soon the panel is pried from the wall, and he does an override. The heavy colony doors slide open, revealing the airlock and decontamination area. Blade heads in and starts working on the inner door.

Bright: "Stay with us after this Blade. We will probably need you."

"Cant we run a scan on this place before we go in openning random doors?" says Stryker walking up to Bright. "Or atleast a thermal... I dunno, maybe just to be safe we aren't getting set up for an ambush or something".

As she reached the end of the alley and saw the Hyperion's dropship sitting there on the landing zone, she couldn't help but clench her fist and thrusting it upwards in celebration! Her low chuckle surely would never be heard across the distance through the wind and rain as she watched the soldiers. Paula's distinctive armour made her stand out clearly from the rest, another thing in Claudia's favour. She could see they'd gathered around a door, although it was too far to hear what was being said.

"Time to see if this thing is worth the money I paid... ", she muttered, and a jet pack on her back roared to life, propelling her upwards. She sailed up and over the dropship, her heavy metal boots landing on the roof of it with a thunk, and she took aim with her rifle, squeezing the trigger to send a white beam in Paula's direction.

Paula, being the observant young lady that she is, thought she saw something strange on the roof of the dropship, like a will-o-the-wisp. She turned to look a bit closer, her eye-HUD zooming in to reveal Claudia's heartbeat signature, and a sudden increase in heat told her she should definitely move as soon as possible.

Also very instinct-based, she dives to the side and raises her rifle to return fire. She's unlikely to hit at this distance, considering she's sliding sideways, but it's enough to discourage Claudia from firing again.
