Most dark castles loom forebodingly. This one, while certainly foreboding, does not loom. It dominates, it imposes, but it definitely does not loom. Even though its pitch-black shape is barely visible against the night sky, the sheer sense of size is almost enough to crush a man's spirit.
You have no idea how you got here. One moment you were going about your usual business, the next you find yourself staring at a non-looming dark castle. Looking around you shows a veil of almost palpable darkness shrouding the surroundings. Gutteral, bone-chilling animal howls are more felt than heard, closing in on you, the hapless victim. When finally the heavy wooden gates creak noisily open, you're not sure whether to feel relieved to have found a place to run to, or to dread what is waiting for you inside...

The sound comes from... that one? No, that one! It's the sound of a helpless creature trying hopelessly to pentrate the impassible, wooden, man-made barrier in it's path. Quite pitiful, really.

The pain is quite painful indeed! The bit of crystal seems quite firmly lodged into his arm. At least it's stopping the bleeding, except for a slow trickle that seeps around its edges. Looking around, the chandelier is an irreparable mess on the floor. The impact threw up a ton of dust that is only very slowly settling down. Despite the noise however, nothing seems to stir.

As Jace's hand rummage through the thick layer of dust, he finally comes across something cold and heavy. After a little bit of work he uncovers what seems to be a heavy metal ring, attached to a hatch in the floor.

Left? Nothing. Right? Nothing. Forward...? In a far corner, there seems to be... a door? It's cleverly hidden in the wall, but the impact from the chandelier must've shaken loose some of the dust on the handle...

The pitiful noises slowly fade in the distance... Then a ray of light shines through the crack of an open door...
