Victor was glad that the king had the common sense not to do something like get into a trifle with the local Bishop's... killing the local lords even if it was to prevent a crusade always left a bitter aftertaste in his mouth. He quietly listened on to the banter having eaten already far more then someone his size had any right to.

Trey leaned further and further onto the table as the King explained how many villages had been attacked harder than he had heard, "Then we can't waste time. Aid must be given to them. Where would you have me go, my King?" he asked eagerly.

"Go where you would, Paladin... Underbough is likely the most besieged... if it still stands. Everglade at least we still have contact with, though who knows for how long... and things have just begun stirring in Blackstone."

He looks to the rest of them. "Have you any other questions?"

Trey was practically fidgeting in his chair, eager to do battle with the foul enemies of the empire, "Is there anything else of note before we all embark on the quest?" he asked.

The king nodded. "Yes... I almost forgot... I have gifts for you."

He stands up, going over to the windowsill and taking an inscribed wooden box, bringing it over and setting it on the table.

"Here this will help you in your journey." He opens the box to reveal many pendants of similar make, pulsing faintly with energy. They are simple carved wooden disks set in a metal ring and attached to a chain. The symbols are unfamiliar, but bear strong resemblance to the ones carved along the windowsills and door frames of this very room.

"These amulets will give you a measure of protection against the dark spirits. It will keep them from quickly possessing you. Do not be foolish, though... they are not foolproof."

James takes one of the pendents and slips it on with a nod of thanks.

Peter takes one by the string and lets it turn slowly in front of his face. "Very stylish. And functional as well? I could get used to gifts like these. Thank you, Your Majesty."

The king nods. "I wish you good luck..." He is about to continue, when Christina speaks up. "Also... I have a blessing I would give you... if you would have it." The king lokos over, eyebrow raising. The princess blushes, but reaches under her skirts, taking a box she had hidden under her chair and setting it on the table. Lifting the lid she reveals an array of obsidian daggers which glow a faint red.

"These are enchanted to strike against demonic creatures... they will aid you in slaying this menace. Take them with my blessing... and make haste to our besieged towns..."

The blond boy scampers so quickly to the box--or more specifically, the box's owner--and bows so deeply one can't help but wonder why he hasn't smacked his head on the floor yet. Or, more likely, why it wasn't showing. He's close enough to the princess for her to hand a dagger to him, but still a respectable distance away.

After this comedic display, he remains deeply bent at the waist with his hand respectfully yet elegantly outstretched. His head's still down, but it's all too easy to tell he's grinning ear to ear. "Your Highness is far, far too kind to us undeserving plebeians, m'lady. To even think of accepting such a gift is a great honor to my family name."

The princess smiles slightly, taking the dagger lightly and lightly placing it in his hand. Her fingers brush his for just the barest moment. "Thank you again for this... do you need transport? The stables are full of strong horses, able to bear you anywhere you need to go..."

Ginny made no move to take a pendant. She didn't say anything, but her expression, as well as her earlier praise of her own Goddess suggested that perhaps she believed she already had everything she needed to protect her from being possessed. A smile did spread across her lips when the Princess opened her box however, and Ginny's silver dress swished around her long legs as she walked over to the girl's side, and took a dagger. She watched the young royal and Peter for a moment, and smirked a little, leaning in to interrupt by pressing a kiss to the lips of the Princess, just a brief one, but on the lips!

"Your offer of a horse is most kind, Princess, I think I'll take you up on it".

She flashed the girl a wink, and then turned away, admiring the dagger as she walked across the room, not looking back before she stepped out from the dining room. In the hall outside, she bent down slightly, and dragged the dagger across the material of her elegant dress, slashing along mid-thigh, the material below falling to the floor. Catching a guard watching her, she grinned at him, "Can't ride a horse in a dress that long, can I?", and with that, she started to make her way out of the castle.

Giving the trinkets and daggers a measured look...Onín shrugs, and moves to stand.

"I don't need any wards or weapons from you lot."

Letting his words hang in the air for a moment, he looks to the princess.

"I can handle this by my own means."

((Wow... almost 20 pages of intro. I hope you all not bored with me >.<))

The princess nods, her face flushed from the Paladin's unexpected act. "Take what you think you would need. Our armory, stables, store rooms... they are all open to you. Take what you would, but please make haste... out kingdom needs to be delivered!"

That seems to be all... until the king looks up. "And... if you should happen to find my son, Jericho... I would be grateful. He has left the city with those who would follow on the same quest we are sending you on. But... it has been a long time, and he has not been seen." Pain is evident in his voice as he says this.

A guard raises an eyebrow at Ginny, but nods. "Need you directions to the stables, miss?"
