I have a character idea in mind, but I want to run it by Flannery and Josie. Essentially, it is Jason Takaga's little sister, Mei Lin Tagaka. She was murdered at age 15 by one of the Bloody Knuckles gang because she was a secret Pure, with the ability to generate blasts, punches, and shields, so her spirit seeks vengenance against them and their leader, who killed her. She usually takes on the form of a Japanese/American school girl, either wearing her school uniform, or when in fighting mode, she wears a black top with black pants and shoes, the outfit she wore when she was killed. Once the Bloody Knuckles gang and their ring leader are dealt with, she can move on. Here is her bio.
Name: Mei Lin Takaga
Age: (at death, 15)
DOB: May 7, 1995
DOD: April 5, 2010
Aliases: Lin Chi (when she boxed in the Underground boxing tournament)
Accolades: In school - Academic All-American, Honor Society, 2010 Underground Boxing Federation Champion (First youngest female Champion, and last, in honor of her tragic death).
Race: Japanese/American
Gender: Female
Class: 2
Alignment: Good
Appearance: Mei Lin was about 5'7" and weighed about 125 pounds at the time of her death. She appears in her ghost form as a Japanese/American female, with blue eyes, and long black shoulder length hair. Often pinned back by two hair barets on either side in either her school girl mode or her Pure fighter mode, she has a look of sadness because she is dead and seeks guidance to the other side. She also has two other ghostly forms, her funeral outfit, a white blouse and black skirt, with black shoes, (often seen at her gravesite) and the black shirt and pants combo, sporting various bruises and two black eyes, busted lip, and multiple contusions (when the thugs beat her up). Her fighter form does not sport any bruises and wears a black mask over her eyes.
Base of Operations: Mei Lin haunts the Tagaka residence, and often talks to her brother via the phone or television. She prefers the Television medium, as she can be seen on the tv. No matter if you change the channel, she will be on the screen.
Bio/History: Mei Lin Takaga was born to Japanese/American parents. Like her brother, her father and grandfather were famous boxers. She moved into the Tagaka residence in America on the insistance of her mother to keep her from following in her famous father and grandfather's footsteps. There she secretly practiced her Pure powers, channeling them into her fists, under the guidance of someone who knew and trained her father and grandfather, both former Pures. This 3rd generation Pure ran afoul of the Bloody Knuckles gang, whom she was investigating for a series of "deaths" in the shady world of illegal underground "Fight Club" boxing, known as the Underground Boxing Federation, where two competitors enter a caged ring, and people bet money on the outcome. The winner advances to the next round, the loser ends up "eliminated" (ie killed off). She secretly entered the competition under her nom de guerre "Lin Chi". She wore black clothes and wore a mask to keep her identity a secret. That fateful night, she was offered money by one of the leaders of the Bloody Knuckles gang, who were running and rigging the fights, to fight their champion. She accepted, needing the money, and eliminated many of what the Bloody Knuckles gang threw at her, until the main event, where she had to fight a really big bruiser of a guy. The Bloody Knuckles gang used this tournament to study the new girl and wear her out for the main event, but "Lin Chi" defeated the Bloody Knuckles bruiser with her father's signature punch, the Chi Rocket Punch, an upper right hook, channeling her pure chi into her fist. After the battle, the young girl collected her pay, she found out she was cheated out of her guaranteed winnings by the promoter, who was one of the leaders of the Bloody Knuckles gang. She decked him with the Chi Rocket Punch and took all her winnings she was owed. She used the money wisely to help her mother and brother with the bills, and kept some of the money for herself.
A few days after her becoming the youngest UBF Champion, on April 2, 2010, Mei Lin was kidnapped and killed by the Bloody Knuckles gang after school, and within 24 hours after her kidnapping, her bruised and battered body was found by the police on a park bench, with a note bearing the insignia of the Bloody Knuckles gang. She was robbed and beaten by the gang members, led by the one known as "Bruiser", and those who had assaulted her were later convicted and sent to life in prison for assault and later murder. Mei Lin clung to life until April 5, when she died in the hospital. Some of these men who killed her died in prison, or were sentenced to death. The UBF was shut down permanetly, and Mei Lin Tagaka was officially recognized as its last champion under her nom de guerre, Lin Chi. The Championship belt was given to her family as a memorial to her bravery and her contributions to helping her family. Mei Lin still seeks justice for her murder, and needs help from a family member to help find her true killer before he is released on parole. She also wants them to remember her and the good times they shared in her short life before she crosses over with her deceased father and grandfather, who appear in their prime.
Mei Lin's body is buried near her father and her grandfather in a local cemetary. Her spirit was present at her funeral service and her burial, if those with the ability to see her, a la Ghost Whisperer. She seemed sad at all the people there, and heard the minister's euology. She even make an appearance at the trials of her murderers, often appearing in her battered near death form to her murderers, or her healthy form to her friends and family She wanted to reach out and comfort her friends and loved ones, but she was soon met by the deceased spirits of her granfather and father, who told her she needed to seek her brother and ask him to help her cross over.
Note: Mei Lin's case drew national attention on "Americas Most Wanted" shortly after her death, so if you remember that story on AMW, and can help her, contact the police and help find her murderers.
Weapons: Mei Lin used boxing gloves and when she was not fighting or investigating the Bloody Knuckles gang, she enjoyed painting and hanging out with her brother, and meeting new people. Sadly, being a ghost doesn't allow her to meet other living people, as normal people cannot see her, unless they could sense her presence or she makes herself "known" to them. If she makes herself "known" to others who can "see" her, she would talk to them about her cold case and try to convince them to help her. Her signature attack is the Chi Rocket Punch, which would be recognized by family members or friends who may have witnessed her defeat the thugs in the underground Fight Club.
Quotes: "Chi Rocket Punch!"
"How can you kill one which is already dead?" - Favorite taunt to the evil Bloody Knuckles gang members
"Please, remember me....remember all the good times we shared, brother? I saw you at my funeral....I wish I could have came over...and given you a warm hug, just to let you know I am here for you....oh, Father and Grandfather are going to help me cross over, and they ask that you help me keep my memory alive."
"Hello..." She appears in her casual clothes, in ghost form, if someone summons her...."My name is Mei Lin Tagaka...age 15...the Bloody Knuckles gang kidnapped and killed me over money I earned by participating in the Fight Club boxing tournament. I am sorry and feel so ashamed for trying to help my family with their financial problems."
Likes: Shopping, hanging out with friends, "Ghosting" through walls, solving the mystery of her death, solving other people's "deaths" and helping them cross over, talking with her brother. She has seen her deceased father and grandfather during her journey to the afterlife.
Dislikes: The Bloody Knuckles Gang, evil spirits.
