Boom!! Pow!!! ZZZZZ!! ZOOM!! PEW PEW PEW!!!!

the various sound effects flashed across the city just like any other day. In the middle of the city the Amazings building was blown up for the 5th time this month, it’s auto reconstruct mechanisms already kicking in meanwhile another super villain monologued his victory before Captain Amazing punched his face in with a ‘squelch’ all the while Ms. Strong blew up his machine stopping his world take over plan.
On the other side of the city, Cuckoos Asylum villains broke out for the 2nd time this month. Most were put down by the Pwner before they even knew it, though like always a decent number managed to escape back into the general populace.
Dr. Deus Ex Machina meanwhile from his invincible little house on 4th and Broadway fought off a demonic invasion from the 4th ring of Hell, like any other Monday.

Thus the day started like any other, at the Daily Planet JJ looked at the summary investigative reports he had on some of the ‘other’ hero’s.
The Flying Fox
The typical wanna be hero. If it wasn’t for the fact that there were real super heroes in spandex punching out dark gods people would have likely laugh even more than they already do at her. While she has done some good, someone of her level should have just joined the cops.
The Sentinel
Underworld menace, well know local black ops vigilante. Local drug lords and such considered him a threat, since they can operate under radar from high end heroes but not him.
The Hub
Information broker for the good guys, little known character but would likely get murdered if villains found out his identity.
Scarlet Spider
Apparently a Hero from another dimension, he’s a already become a well known hero in the Stepford area is considered skilled and dangerous but due to lack of any real information can’t say much on his background.
Grav
Unknown quality, since he/she hasn’t done anything notable and hasn’t even been seen. We do think it may be a powerful mutant as there have been reports on some of mutant faction’s interest.
Lykos
Initial reports pointed to werewolf, however the lack of magic and full moon points to something else. Considered feral and dangerous given the state of the dead, not really sure if they should be classified as hero but since the dead are criminals thus far the rest of the media has been classifying them as such.
Headbanger
Joke hero, apparently he’s popular with the teens but as for actual effectiveness other than making people face palm he’s fairly harmless.
Nightshade
Moderately powerful new hero, fairly new exploits on some of the lower class criminals has him powering through them. Looks to be a rising star in the hero population, sparked some interest in some of the hero teams.
Sparker
Another electric based hero, pretty hot by reports and pictures. Reports have her being fairly powerful like all electricity based heroes, also considered a rising star as she’s pretty popular with the teenagers while having the power to back it up.

Looking at the assorted hero JJ pondered what to have for the headline but his gut told him to do one thing “Well that’s decided… “ Jameson said “Jimmy!” he shouted “for tomorrows Front Page - Crimson Spider hero or forefront for a Dimensional Invasion!” after all it was still JJ regardless of the dimension.

As the papers were delivered to the various news stands and the sun raised in the east. The assorted everyone else of Stepford city continued on with the typical lives, just making note to avoid to exploding areas and cheering for a free day off if there office building blew up.

Then there are you, heroes that continued with their daily lives along with the general populace most never seen outside of the occasional crossover or universe wide event.
Inside Stepford city, with a population of over 50 million people, at 25 square miles size it was one of the largest and shiniest cities in all of the American east coast excluding the slums on the outskirt of the urban sprawl but technically that wasn’t in the city.

The Sentinel hated the daytime. It did not help his work. His prey were creatures of the night, he almost suspected most of them to sleep in bed all day with the curtains closed tight...

Like a vampire.

He checks his pistol, unloading it smoothly before slapping the magazine back in with a satisfying snap. He had just the thing to handle these nocturnal bloodsuckers, but during the day... he had to content himself with young punks. Pickpockets and thugs... Still, if he could save some of them from the path they were heading down... that would save him time in the long run.

And by save, he meant scare the hell out of them until they browned their low-hanging punk-a** trousers.

He was on the way to check out a warehouse owned by Guillermo Sansos, a Mexican drug running bigwig who thought he could move into HIS city. He meant to teach him the error of his ways.

Thats when he heard the yell. 'Help! He stole my purse!'

The Sentinel almost cringed at the stereotypical situation. But still... if the spandex were too important flying around like gods... that left the common person for him. These were his people after all.

He turns towards the yell, breaking into a run, looking for the perp. He wouldnt be hard to spot... he had trained himself to spot scum. Even young scum.

Katherine climbed into her shiny black sedan, wearing a pair of black high heels, sheer nylon tights on her long legs, with a snug dark grey skirt that hugged her thighs, reaching about two thirds of the way down them, with a white cotton blouse tucked into that which had long sleeves. She wore her thick-framed but stylish glasses, with quite a bright red lip gloss, her shoulder-length blonde hair held back with a black barrette, and set her gym bag on the passenger seat, a couple of comic books poking out from it before she pushed them deeper.

As she pulled out of her parking space infront of her building, she had to weave around the big yellow school bus that had pulled up at the stop there, the crowd of teenagers piling into it. They were all in uniform, the girls in long-sleeved white cotton button up blouses with navy blue ties and short, pleated navy blue skirts, some of them less than mid-thigh in length, white socks to just below their knees, and black leather mary janes on their feet, while the boys wore white cotton shirts, navy blue ties and navy blue trousers, along with polished black shoes. It was a popular stop for kids to get off at after school, as there was a burger bar right opposite Katherine's building that they loved hanging out at. All the serving staff in that place were women, all of them attractive, and they wore the shortest, tightest, bright orange dresses with their cleavage hanging out. It attracted the teenage boys, and the girls went where the boys went.

Sipping her coffee from the aluminium flask, she carefully drove through the city, grumbling everytime she caught sight of one of the big time super heroes, "Not all of us can afford to give up our day jobs!", she muttered through the window. After an uneventful drive, she pulled into the parking lot of Stepford City university, and climbed out of the car, taking her bag and coffee flask with her, switching her cellphone to silent as she headed into the building, and made her way to the library, where she had her own office, a nice little slice of privacy. Removing her black jacket, she hung it up on the coat stand, and turned the coffee machine on before walking over to the desk, and setting her gym bag beneath it as she turned on the computer, pulling out a Silver Surfer comic and flicking through it while she waited. "What I wouldn't give for that board... ", she muttered to herself.

Once the computer was on, she opened up a web browser, and clicked a few times, bringing up a pathetically amateur website. Dominating the page was a photo of a blonde woman in a red lycra bodysuit, with white gloves, boots and panties on, and a white bandit mask, while large red text filled the space below it, 'Do you want to make a difference? Together we can! Contact the Flying Fox now!'. Another few clicks brought up an inbox, two messages bolded to signal they were unread. "No, I do NOT need a bigger penis!", snapped Katherine as she deleted the first, and then rolled her eyes, deleting the second, "And I'm not falling for THAT either". Rubbing her temples, she sighed, "How can I make people realise you don't need super powers to be a super hero... Batman doesn't!". Bending down beneath the desk, she opened the zipper of the bag, revealing the red lycra bundle inside, "Maybe I just need a new look... ", she murmured.

Rising from the desk, she got up, closing the office door, and locked it, then re-filled her flask with fresh coffee, which was gulped down in seconds. "Okay, show's over... ", she said to herself, one hand plucking the glasses from her face, the other sweeping upwards across her hair, squeezing the barrette and then twisted it free so the blonde locks fell about her shoulders, and placed both accessories down beside the computer. She untucked her blouse and removed her heels before unfastening the skirt and sliding it down her legs. Next came the sheer tights, revealing a pair of white lace panties, and then a matching bra as she unbuttoned and removed her blouse. Crouching down, she pulled out the red lycra bodysuit from the gym bag, grinning as she tugged it on over her body, followed by the plain white lycra panties over the top of it, along with the white belt around her waist, a small cellphone slotting onto the front of it, the white leather boots and white lycra gloves going on next. Sweeping her blonde hair into a high ponytail, she secured it with a red hair tie, and then pulled on the final piece of her costume, the plastic white bandit mask across her eyes.

Vaulting over the desk, she clicked a few more buttons, setting her out-of-office response to mention something about being snowed under with admin work for the rest of the day, and then turned to a safe on the wall. Twisting the lock, she opened it up... and crawled inside! A short crawl through the tiny tunnel, and she was clambering up a long set of steel rungs, before opening the hatch at the top, and climbing out on the university roof. Tugging the cellphone from her belt, she started flicking through the numbers, before highlighting 'The Sentinel' and pushing Call...

Sandra was on her way to school in the morning, taking a small detour as she noted the reconstruction going on along Broadway after yesterday's huge battle there. She had even gotten there to participate, but was knocked unconscious rather quickly and embarrassingly... She still feels a little rough after the battle, and decides she's going to take it cool today. Nothing too strenu-

"Help! He stole my purse!"

Sandra fights an inner conflict of whether she's up for something even that small this early in the morning... And she figures it's worth investigating. She ran in the direction of the cry, looking for anywhere she could stop off to zap up and change. She spots a small alleyway, which she ducks into, and taking out her iPod. With a quick flourish, the iPod's battery briefly flickers as the power draws out of it and into Sparker, as her hair turns shock white and her pupils flash. It's just the jolt she needed, as she reverses her clothing into her makeshift "costume," which is still quite plainclothes. She zips back out of the alley and in pursuit of the voice, adjusting the black blouse with the iron-on white lightning bolt in a diamond that is slightly cracking as she runs.

A knock is heard on Flannery's office door. The door opens and out bops in Miss Mary Joice, Ellis's Secretary. She sees him passed out on top of his desk, using his key board as a makeshift pillow. "Excuse me Mister Flannery, but it's 8 o'clock."

Ellis jumps up and looks at her. "And it looks like you had one rough night."

His shirt is half buttoned, and his hair a mess. Ellis walks behind his desk and sits down. He sees his exo suit is sticking out from under the desk. He uses his foot to push his exo suit under his desk a little further. "You could say that. What my schedule?"

Marry tales out here PDA. "At 10 you have a meeting with a reporter from the Daily Planet. at 11 Lunch with Mister Hatsugawa for Dino Industries and playing 6 holes of golf. And at 4 you were going to demo test your new stealth material to some representatives of the Armed forces."

"Can't we just move the Daily Planet interview to next week, or cancel it?"

"That what you said last week, and the week before that."

"Ok fine. I'll do."

"Oh and by the way, nice boots."

Ellis looks down and sees he is wearing the boots that belong to his exo suit. "Oh those, they are another side project, just some new combat boot for the soldier of the future."

Miss Joice exits the room. Ellis slams his head into his desk.

It was just another morning for Micheal. His alarm clock was ringing as he slowly lifted his head from the keyboard of his computer. The screen on his computer was humming a bit as the screen was black. Micheal rubbed his eyes as he saw that it was mid morning. He gave a bit of stretching as he got up for a minute. He gave up a yawn and then said, "Coffee and toast please?"

There was a few sounds coming from another room as popping could be heard. Micheal then looked at his computer and said, "Come on...I am awake and so should you."

The computer's screen flicker for a bit then showed his web browser. Micheal then took command of it and skim the websites that were on there before heading to the local news site. It seems like the same stuff as always. Seems like this new Crimson Spider character was making a monk since JJ was trying an attempt to smear his name. The article was something interesting but expected from the editor of the biggest newspaper in the city. Micheal knew that information was king and the one that has the most was the one who rule the world. JJ seem on to this game and so was Micheal. Even knowing the small stuff was enough to know.

Soon what looked like a table on mechanical legs appeared with a toaster and coffee machine appeared. Micheal just reached for the toast that just popped out of it and took a sip of the coffee. Micheal frowned and then said, "Well the coffee could always be better but appreciate it."

Micheal was glad that he had this power to manipulate anything electronic and was happy he kept it a secert. It has came in handy and useful. Micheal just hummed a bit as he looked at the news and see what was on his to-do list.

Ben Reilley cringes as he reads the morning headline from the Planet. "Geez, old triple J never seams to change, whatever dementional string he is in."  he thinks as he finishes up his morning meal. He was glad thet sparker, or was it Sparkler girl was ok, she was a tough rookie. Maybe he should offer to help her train sometime...That would give old cigar breath more gossip for his rag. Just then his spider sense tingles as he hears a cry about some purse thieves..."Great, and I have that bid to file for the repair job near the heros base" he sighs. Knowing he will hate himself for not acting if none of the other heros show, he quickly pays for his meal and is out the door looking for the source of the cries, a digital camera in hand, ready for action if one of the other heros was already working the scene.

Postby ZeroForever » Sun May 30, 2010 6:36 pm

Once again please use a grammar/spell checker, some of you are fine but some of you it’s honestly annoying.

Purse snatching was one of those petty crimes that were just that... petty, even for the morning it was still board day light. By the time The Sentinel, Ben, and Sparker had arrived, the teenager had already been busted by cops… apparently he had tried to escape through the parking lot of a Dunkin Donuts, the result was needless to say predictable. While super heroing was nice, there was legal precedence for minor crimes like this already which didn’t need superheroes. Detective Flint simply shook his as he put the kid in the back of his car “Nothing to see here.” He said motioning disperse to the small crowd that had formed, crime fighting had practically turned into a circus with all these spandex wearing morons running around. Admitted they were need at times but he shuddered at the sheer stupidity and excess time a lot of them had.

Ms. Gram the senior librarian sighed from her desk noticing Katherine’s, away message already. She wouldn’t say anything as long as she got her work done but seriously that girl needed a dose of reality, the city already had far too many ‘heroes’ already. If she was going to say she was swamped with work well may as well make it true, Gram contemplated looking at what additional projects she could relegate to Katherine.

Micheal’s to do list was numerous but mostly pointless, other than contacting certain heroes with information that he had found there wasn’t much going on outside of the usual channels. While that was a good thing, the downside is that usually lull periods ended with super hectic events like Alien invasions and the like, which were usually outside his scope.

Mary was slightly surprised the Ellis had finally agreed to the interview, after all Ms. Lois O’Neil of the Daily Planet was rather famous for picking peoples secrets from them, considering how Ellis’s ‘secret’ was pretty poorly hidden already she hoped he would hold out after all the company after all didn’t need this type of publicity. Hopefully the slightly helpful ‘hint’ would wake him up considering his state though the ‘Thud’ of his head behind the door made her pensive about it, at least the 2 hours should be more than enough for him to clean himself up.

(Damn...Guess I got to read them instead of just using the spellcheck...)

Micheal saw the list and sighed. He been doing this long enough to know that it means something bigger then what he can usually handle is on the horizon. Just like there was always dawn after night, the dawn must end for night. Still he might as well get done with his tasks and send out the information. The sooner he sends out information meant that he would have more time to handle the information finding. Some of them were easy while others involve either face to face or phone contact. He guess the emails would be easier.

Micheal log on to a screen that would be unfamiliar to normal people, the thing is that his email system was highly protected to ensure a secure line of communication. He simply attached the information and sent the emails. Micheal skim the list of heroes to see if there were anybody big on the list. They may be big shots but even they are lazy. Micheal saw the message saying that all emails were sent.

"Well time for the calls," said Micheal as he picked up the phone and said, "Make my voice deep. The usual and redirect anybody who may try to track me to the police station in let see...how about Canada this time?"

Micheal then laughed and added, "Because we all know that there is nothing in Canada."

The Sentinel looks up to the detective, nodding. "I'm glad to see your on the job. If luck allows, I will have some presents for you by the end of tonight, Flint." That was usually the end stop for most of the criminals caught by The Sentinel, tied up and left on the steps of the Police Department. He had a decent relationship with the cops. He saw them as doing their job, and they saw him as more down to earth and less ridiculous as most heroes.

It was then his phone began to ring.

He takes it out, glancing at the caller, then back to the detective. "Keep it up." Then he turns and continues on his way to the warehouse, pressing the phone to his ear.

"Fox. Whats up?"

Fox casually made her way across the rooftop of the library building as she held the ringing cellphone to her ear, shaking her head as she watched two heavily modded Japanese sports cars roar off from the lights and race eachother down the street, "Everywhere your look in this city, there's bad eggs... ". When The Sentinel answered, she turned away from the edge of the roof, pacing back and forth. "What do we have to do to get ourselves noticed around here, huh? Once again, I've had NO replies to my recruitment website", she began to rant, still with a pretty strong English accent despite living in Stepford City for over ten years. "Is it money? Because we're really NO different from Batman, apart from a few expensive toys.. ". He could hear her drawing a deep breath down the line, and then she spoke more calmly, "I got the day off work... well, kinda, and I was wondering if you'd had any tip offs? I want to do something big today, I wanna make the newspapers!".

Ben sighs as he sees the other costumes on scene and the police already putting the kid in the back of a cruiser. Snaping off a few pics for the local cop blog, Ben puts his camera away and heads back for his truck. Heading downtown, he narrowly avoides the pair of racing rice boys heading the wrong way down the street as they zip around the next corner..."Those two are gonna kill someone " he says and almost pursues them until he sees a squad of police cars headed after the pair..." Nothing to see here folks." Detective flints words roll thru his mind once more. Sure he appriciated what the cop did, but sometimes it still rankled Ben. Still, it was the cops job to protect and serve, the spanex just giving them the edge they need to keep the more violent element under control. Pulling up in front of the two story brownstone that was suppose to be an attorny office, Ben shudders at the damages caused by the fight. "As much as I hate it, this kind of work still pays the bills" he says to himself as he waits for the law partner that was to meet him and get him the access to the building for his estimates...

The Sentinel listens quietly as Fox vents, he knew about her frustrations, and this wasnt the first conversation they had had before. "Fox, are you in this to make a difference... or are you in this for the glory? The flying spandex are in it for the glory. And they get it. But the person you save with your own two hands will remember you for the rest of their lives. And that is better than any amount of fanfare."

"But still... I have a tip off on a suspicious warehouse. If you think your up to it, you can join me in checking it out. It is in the docks district, 27 Mullington Bone Alley."

"You know I'm in it to make a difference... I just... wish we'd get some more recognition sometimes, you know? Sometimes I think this whole city considers me a joke. I'm going to head your way, so see you soon, Senty". There was a beep as she hung up, sliding the cell phone closed, and placing it back on her white belt as she walked to the edge of the roof. She rolled her shoulders and arched her spine, and then jumped forward, twisting one eighty in the air and grabbed onto a drainage pipe, sliding almost all the way down it before hopping onto the roof of a van, and then springing over the wall.

She used the rooftops as often as she could, and the back alleys when she had no choice but to be on street level. Fighting criminals was almost in her nature now, but the reaction of the public to her made her uneasy. The reports in the city newspapers weren't helping either. Should have joined the cops? She snorted. She'd never seen a cop do what she could do. Running at one wall, she planted both feet on it, and twisted her hips before launching herself upwards, grabbing onto the bottom rung of a ladder hanging from a fire escape, and hauled herself up onto the platform, taking the stairs right to the top of the building, where she got a view across the whole of the docks district.

Just when she was pondering how best to get down there, a low thudding sound reached her ears. Turning her head, she saw a Daily Planet news helicopter speeding towards her, and a smirk spread across her lips. Bursting into a run along the edge of the roof, she kept glancing over her shoulder, watching the chopper get closer and closer before waiting for her moment and leaping off the edge of the building, soaring across the gap, and grabbing onto the landing bars of the helicopter! A rush of adrenaline went through her as she dangled from beneath it as it soared over the city. Twisting from side to side, she began to scan the buildings they passed over, with her heart racing, she let go of the bar as they flew across one of the higher rooftops and plummeted downwards, almost twenty feet, dropping into a roll and springing back to her feet. She couldn't hold back the laughter as she sprinted towards the low wall around the roof top, vaulting over it and twisting, dropping to the fire escape below, grabbing the railing to stop herself for just a second, before she dropping to the next level, and then the next, so on and so on, before finally her feet landed on the ground in the alley between the two buildings, the entrance to the docks right ahead of her.

After that first day, after experience as a wolf, Daniel had retreated back home to try and sort through on his mind what had been happening to him over the past few days.

In a city where new heros and villians seemed to be a daily fixture in the news and even in the streets, it shouldn't have been unsurprising to hear of the new person with powers and skills beyond that of a regular people. Of course, hearing about these kind of people and being one of those kind of people were two different matters entirely. He did not have powers quite in the manner he had seen in the comic books, or witnessed in the city. In fact, his powers made the use of one of the bright, garish costumes many heros used rather irrelevant. He was different, it seemed. He was an animal, aspects of which were beginning to show on his human form, his hair had gone grey and white as a result of the change.

Though, the immediate concern for him was not so much the differences between him and the heros but rather the strange effects this new found power was having on him as a normal human being. Even as he sat there, relaxing back into his chair in his apartment, scents and smells were assaulting his altered nose unrelentingly, powerful and distinct. Though that was the lesser problems the changes had brought about. The inability to see colour was becoming problematic, his vision limited to black, white and shades of grey made it difficult for him to see some objects and to tell the colour of objects apart, which had cause some issues at work as some of the medicines and other items were a specific colour as to be able to pick them up easily and without the ability to see colour, this became more time consuming as he would need to read the labels to find out what he was looking for. It had, however, improved his night vision so he was able to better see objects in low light conditions, sometimes with the moon as a source of light.

After a while of just laying about, and considering he had gotten a day of work, he decided to head out into the city, maybe try and get used to the different scents that his nose seemed to be picking up now. A moment thinking brought him to the conclusion that prehaps if he exposed himself to some strong scents for a period of time he might get used to it quicker and nowhere in the city would smell stronger than the docks.

Leaving his apartment, dressed in his regular baggy attire, he would make his way into the city to head to the docks. Along the way there, he stopped at a newstand, an article of interest was on the local paper, a list of new 'heros' apparently. After purchasing the newspaper, he would turn immediately to the article in question. Fortunately the paper was black written on white so he was able to read properly. It certainly was a list of heros indeed, but one in particular caught his attention.. 'Lykos' apparently the name given to attacker in the alleyway incident a few days before. He was a little surprised that they had managed to figure out it was a wolf that had attacked the two men, but the police were not slouches.

“Lykos huh? Well, that's not a bad name” musing to himself as he folded the newspaper up and left it on a park bench for someone else to pick up and read.

Making his way too the outskirts of the city, where the docklands were, he would wander about for a time. The smells of the dock were something else indeed, pollution, salt, fish, maritime fuel, diesel fuel among other smells were hanging about the place, as well as the scent of various human beings. Eventually he would have to sit on a group of low stacked crates to take a breath, try and steady himself after such a strong experience....
