Sometimes stairs just aren't best...

Postby KonokoHasano » Tue Jun 22, 2010 3:53 pm

They are, probably one of the most sinister things ever.

My grandma had a doctor's appointment today, and so we had to get her down the stairs sense she needed a wheel chair to do it. Usually, an uncle of mine is here to help. Since he wasn't coming today, my grandpa was the one to hold the back, even though I offered to help. What it led to was my grandma rolling down the stairs with the wheel chair tipping onto its back and my grandpa falling down on top of her.

They seem okay, but my grandma mentioned her back hurts, and she bit her tongue, causing her mouth to bleed.

We managed to get her back up, but gah... talk about stressful...

I hope they're alright. Stairs are a bane to old people.

Not many alternatives, though. I don't suppose there's enough room in your house (or wherever this happened) for a ramp...? Ramps requiring more room going straight than a staircase, which can bend, I somehow doubt it.

But they're okay, right?

x.x Yeah.

I don't think there is enough room for a ramp. If one was put there, it'd be too steep.

But yeah, they do seem alright, nothing seemingly broken or anything.

Well... Ramps can be made to bend as well, but require a lot of area to do it, have you given thought to a portable chair lift (I know the are not the most cost effective, and not easy ti transport, but...) it could make things like this les problamatic in the future...*dang it almost got away without a time lord reference*

Not even sure if a chair lift could fit or work in that spot, honestly.

I don't know... I just know I would have been kinda annoyed if something like that happened to one of my family members and someone made a stupid reference.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother's misfortune. Maybe your grandma could consider relocating to somewhere on the first floor of the house?

Well, I'll admit that I was annoyed when I saw that, but thankfully you said it when it was long after the fact, and since everybody is okay...

As soon as you enter the front door to the house, there are stairs leading up to the main part, and stairs leading down to the basement. Sounds dangerous and all, but they've lived in the house for over 30 years. One of those things where you don't think about years down the line.

Though, an uncle of mine came out and looked to see if it's possible to put ramps on the back porch.
