Li found she couldn't call for help on her cell phone, as she closed it and put it in her pocket. The magical vines surrounded her wrists, and she felt the thorny reminder of why she shouldn't struggle. "You cannot kidnap us! We have rights you know!" She protested as she shakes her head. She looks back at the giant tree as the five little faeries escort her, Patty, and Ari to this "council" for whatever "charges" they were being accused of. "Well, we'd better prepare our defense, in case the council has some sort of evidence against us. All we did was plant one tree, and now we are being hauled off to Faerie court or something?"

Meanwhile, while all this was happening, Sayako has manage to fly into the abandoned saw mill undetected by the humans. She flutters around the ceilings and through the doorways of the rooms. She looks for a human so that she can observe their activities.

Ari struggles to stand up and then proceeds to follow the little faeries then looks to Li. "Maybe we shouldn't upset them anymore... Now let's hurry up... These faeries are fast."

Sayako would quickly find herself spotting Annalina and Preston within the "abandoned" mill. Annalina turned swiftly, her eyes locking with the other Faerie's. She beckoned for Sayako to join her on the ground. "Ah, Sayako - excellent timing. Come here - there is someone I wish for you to meet."

After what seemed like at least an hour of running, the captured humans found themselves in a large grove filled with the same kind of blue-blossomed trees as the one that had spontaneously grown on the Forest's edge. Seven gnarled thrones of root and bark stood in a semi-circle, each - excepting the third throne from the left, which was empty - playing host to a short, elegant woman who appeared to be in her mid-twenties. It was impossible at the moment to discern specific details about the creatures, however, as each throne was shrouded in a concealing light that blinded the humans if they looked directly at it.

You have been brought before the council, and your fates lie in our hands. You are charged with trespassing into our forest - into the Faewild. You have also been exposed to our magic.

The disembodied voice now sounded less as a single entity and more as a collection of wills speaking in perfect unison. It continued, its tone ominous. If your trespass had been willful, we would condemn you to wander our forests for eternity, unable to escape. However, your crimes were those of poor circumstance, and nothing more. Thus, the council has elected to grant you three choices.

One: We alter your forms and allow you to become denizens of the forest - wolves, birds, and the like. You would retain your sentience, but would lose your humanity. Two: We could kill you. It would be a painless end - but an end nonetheless. Three: We erase your memory, sending you back to your people. This magic, however, is risky - there is a chance that you would lose more than your memories. If the spell goes wrong, your sanity could be at risk. You may each select individually. You need not hurry - our kind are quite patient.

The voice fell silent, and the grove fell into an eerie calm. It seemed that the weight of the world was on the shoulders of the three humans. What choice would they make?

Patty stood there wavering unsteadily awhile and tried to catch her breath whille taking in ragged gasps. Her heart was pounding rapidly and hard from the run. The excess weight she carried made the run that they had been on too much for her. Her skin was sheened with sweat, and her clothing was soaked.

"I..if we choose number one, can we become a member of the Faewild instead of an animal?" she finally managed to gasp out. "You are denizens of the forest also. I ..I might be daring too much, but even if I was made into a lesser female member of the Faewild, such as one to guard the glorious tree where we were taken prisoner ..."

Ari sighed. "You're basically making us choose between our body, life, and mind, right?" Ari thinks about it, but at the same time listens to what Patty is saying. "This forest means a lot to me... I didn't really know that all those times I took a walk through here I was trespassing your forest. I don't want to lose my memory of this place... But I don't want to die either. So obviously I'd choose choice one... So I agree with Patty... Would we be able to become one of you as our options for choice one?" Ari smiles at Patty, supporting her ideas.

Li considers her options. "It was my idea to start re-planting the forest again, even if it meant to wait for the next generation to enjoy it." She lowers her head. "What about our families and friends....they will wonder what has happened to us. I am sorry...I did not know we were trespassing on your territory. Please, don't kill us..." She sees Patty seems uncomfortable with her weight and stands near her. "I don't want to be alone...I wish to join Ari and Patty as a member of the Faewild, instead of an animal of the forest. " She then asks, "I am curious about your culture...are there both male and female members of your society?"

Absolutely not. The voice returned, its intensity was borderline painful for the humans - the forcefulness of the denial left an excruciating ringing sensation in the humans' ears. A human has not been granted entrance into the Faewild as our kin in millenia - and that was only after doing some great service for us. Why would we allow you to join our ranks?

Make your choice, or we shall make it for you.

.: Don't fret too much about your choice. It's not as important as I'm leading you to believe. =) :.

"Ah... I thought so... It was worth asking, though... Either way, my choice remains as the first one." Ari says confidently. "Like I said, I don't want to forget about this forest, and I don't want to die, so yeah."

Li starts to cry as she hears they (the Faewild) will make the choice for them if they do not make their choice. "We planted the tree for you, as a token of our sincerity to restoring the balance of nature, and you repay us by kidnapping us, making us choice between our old lives, and a new life? I don't want to die...do what you want with me..." She gets down on her knees. "I am innocent of the charges you have brought before us. Release us, and we will tell no one of this...." Tears stream down her face, as she awaits her fate.

Patty tried to stop crying. "I was just hoping ... the tree seemed to like me ... but if those are the only three choices ... I don't want to die, or forget even this glimpse of your wonder. So ... the first choice."

"I see you were once human? What is your reason for coming here?" Sayako pauses briefly, "...you weren't planning on restoring the place that nearly destroyed our home, were you..?"

"Do not fret, Sayako." Annalina's voice was calm and carried the distinct tone of a person in charge. "He has done no harm here - it is by my hand that he suffers. I have rewarded him with the gift of sisterhood." She smiled. "Soon, she will complete her transformation. I will then present him to the rest of the Council as a new member of our people." She smiled, her eyes flickering between Preston's still-changing form and a puzzled Sayako. "Sayako, you seem just the person to show him the life of a Faerie... Our young sister is no doubt very confused and distraught. She could use a friend."

Suddenly, a disturbance shot through the minds of Annalina, Sayako, and Preston. The two natural Faeries knew that the Council was about to render a decision. Preston would merely feel a sharp pressure in his mind for a few moments.

Annalina's face instantly darkened. "Sayako, tend to our new sister. I will return momentarily." Without another word, she departed.

Your choices have been made. The vines binding the humans' wrists dissolved, allowing them free range of movement - with the exception of Li. Due to her indecision, her wrists remained bound. With one exception, you are no longer our prisoners. The crying human, in her indecision, has condemned herself to the second option. In a few moments, your selections will be carried out. By the Grace and Power of the Faewild, may you find happiness on your path. The three humans found themselves being slowly enveloped in a luminescent glow as they felt a strange sensation fill their bodies...

"Stop this foolishness at once!"

Suddenly, everything ceased. The humans felt the strange sensation dissipate as the glow vanished, leaving them - as far as they could tell - completely untouched by the Faeries' magic. A new face had stalked into the clearing - Annalina, her elegant features contorted in fury.

"These children did nothing," she spat, her glare leveled at the other five members of the council. "We have no right to take the sentient existence of these poor humans simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time." She shook her head angrily before turning to the other three. "However, the council is correct in saying that you cannot be allowed to know of our people... Unless you join us.

I levy before you two choices, humans. I will be straight with you - the High Fae are a dying breed. We have suffered greatly from the effects that mankind has had on our Faewilds, and our life cycles cannot cope with such devastation. Thus, I offer you these choices: Join us as sisters of Fae blood, or leave and forget all that occurred here." She ignored the stunned gasps of the other Council members, focusing instead on the humans. "Please, if you have any questions first, ask. I do not want you to make an uninformed decision."

Li waited to receive her fate, until what appeared to hear the voice of the elder Faewild, ruling to make them all part of their society. "Thank y-ou, your eldership....uhm, er...I would like to know about the male and female relations in your society though. Is it possible to have both male and female Faewild, working together, or will Ari-kun be converted over to a female Fae?"

Patty looked at the new arrival and smiled through the tears caused by what they had just gone through. "I had already said that I would be willing to be even a lesser member of the Faewild. But to be your sister? That is more than I could have dreamed of. I choose that."
