Surge would find the tube-chamber at the base of the crater inactive, whatever glow that had emanated from it a moment ago had disappeared. The men around were all dead by eyes, they weren't breathing or moving from the look of it. Several boys had gone around and flipped the expired invaders over, looking at their highly advanced gear.

***

The GPS replied to Alana's command swiftly, "Like, continue North but watch out, my map shows that we're in a zone dangerously close to hybrids! Drive careful!

***

As Chris watched, nothing seemed to happen, that is until a loud whirring from the cylinder sounded...like someone had gone through or come out!

***

Charlotte stepped through the field, it felt cold...electric. Her stomach flipped on itself as her atoms were dissipated and recombined on the other side of the portal. Her dive put her face first on a cold steel floor. It seemed she was in a very long hallway with large windows...she couldn't see out of them on the floor like she was. There was no one around.

Charlotte gulped down a deep breath at the weird sensation in her tummy as she landed on the cold steel floor, her damp, braided hair swung across her back as she got up onto her knees, struggling with the large gun before climbing to her feet. Her knees were trembling slightly, with fear that she tried to tell herself was because of what the drugs had changed inside her, but truthfully, she knew she'd have been just as scared as Charlie, because what she was doing was stupid. Charlie would have realised the danger and turned away, but that was because Charlie's personal goals of finding his sister and girlfriend had been far greater than his commitment to the boys. Now Charlotte had made a promise to someone she felt such a strong sense of loyalty too, and she had to try and fulfill that promise.

Her boots still squelched with water as she slowly stepped forward, her hands shaking too as she clutched the rifle and made her way down the corridor a few steps. Her heart pounded away in her chest, and her steps were un-even as she struggled to keep control of her nerves, her blue eyes shimmering as if she was about to burst into tears as she went along another few steps, and turned, pressing up against the window to try and see out of it..

Julian pulls his rifle out of the window, leaning it against the wall. That was crazy... but it seemed to be over. He looks around in the chaos for Greg or anyone from his team. "Just one thing after another." He mutters...
O Muse!
Sing in me, and through me tell the story
Of that man skilled in all the ways of contending,
A wanderer, harried for years on end...

Surge was glad the enemy was defeated, but tehey still couldn't relax. "Hey kids, stop fooling around with the bodies!" he barked at the boys poking around the bodies. "Leave that to the nerds, who knows what the Joe is in there" he added before fooling his own order and issueing a request for the boys to send in the science boys with their bio suits to disect those... things.

*Fun Fact: Most boys replace curse words with G.I. JOE characters* :p

*Alana nods and continues to keep an eye on the road as she continues North.* "Hang in there Rachel, we will be home soon. We will get you fixed up there." Alana says with a slight glance to her best friend.

[And knowing...is half the battle. Excellent ad-libbing Kaizer lol]

With the scene at a lull, it finally looked like the chaos was over. The boys followed Surge's orders quickly, allowing those boys with jury-rigged protection suits began dragging the heavily equipped soldiers into the base. It was maybe a half an hour when the transmission echoed through the warehouse. The voice sounded young, perhaps a 12 year old cadet yelling into the receiver. "Help! Being attacked by hostiles of unknown origin! Need backup as soon as possible! Over!" it seemed that the signal came from a base nearly a day's flight South.

Greg had assumed command of the base and was shouting garbled orders into the intercom for people to get cleaning up. After he'd sufficiently gotten the base moving he descended the stairs from the office, a keen eye could still see the unconcious boy up in the office. "Sarge, Julian. We don't have much time. I need a small unit to get to that base as fast as possible. The only ride we have though is that helicopter or the semi-truck in the back. Take some boys and take your pick." he said quickly before shouting more orders at people.

***

The guard at the front dropped quickly, collapsing quickly to the ground revealing the blood spatter on the wall behind him. The other guard immediately darted into the large hole in the wall, disappearing from sight.

***

The jeep drove straight and true as Alana drove it into the night, it took nearly three hours to get to the base, but thankfully it was uneventful. The waiting doors of the bay were open for her jeep...though if she looked around, it seemed that the guards weren't at their post.

***

As Charlotte pushed up on her small feet to see out the high-up window, her eyes would be met with a sight that she'd never thought possible: Earth.

There it was in all its blue and green glory...Alllll the way down there. It seemed so peaceful, even though Charlotte knew how much fighting and strife was happening. She was able to see the other continents as well. Some features looked different, it looked like Europe was pure forest green, not a mountain visible...Africa had an enormous scar of molten magma ripped through its lower half while it looked like the Sahara had stolen all the top half. She wasn't able to see Asia or Australia at the time. The long hall beckoned her forward. The odd thing was though that there was no stomping of boots...no klaxon alarm of an intruder. Just the silence of cold metal and space.

At first, she couldn't believe what her eyes were seeing. Her damp fingers brushed along the glass of the window, and she stepped back a little, and swayed from side to side, to be sure what she was seeing wasn't just an image on a monitor rather than a window, but shifting her perspective around seemed to make her certain she wasn't just looking at a monitor. Once her mind had established she was gazing at the planet she was supposed to be, the situation hit her like a freight train, making her dizzy. If she was on a ship or a station of some sort above the Earth, her mind immediately made the assumption that the invaders must have been... aliens. Memories of watching movies about Alien invasions before the war flooded into her head as she staggered along the corridor again, and a little whimper spilled from her lips. Those movies becoming reality would have been scary enough as it was, but during this time when the entire planet was already fighting eachother? They were doomed...

With her clothing already damp from her unconventional exit of the base, it took her a moment or two to realise there was an additional warm wetness spreading through her underwear and down between her thighs, and another moment to realise what that meant. She blushed and looked down, her nose wrinkling slightly, her toes curling inside her shoes as she shuffled along the quiet corridor. Her hands were grasping her gun, but the strap was holding all it's weight. She didn't even have her fingers anywhere near the trigger, it was more like how a child would clutch a teddy bear. "Giselle?", she called, and cringed at the way her childish voice sounded, trembling with fear, sounding like she was going to start crying at any moment.

Surge nodded. "Ok, maggots, listen up! I want I want Norris and Snake company to stay at the base and protected it. House company is gonna oversee the wounded. Otaku company is gonna merge with CoD company and I want you go get ready and mobilize as soon as you can towards the base. Be sure to bring some medics and ammunition in case. I want 4 volunteers to come with me in the helicopter, now! You got 5 seconds to grow a pair and follow me. The rest of you... To work!" shouted Surge taking the Assault Rifle of a wounded boy and some ammo from another as he walked towards the air hanger. He reached for his jacket and took out a Pocky and stuck in his mouth. "Just another day at the office..." he said putting back the box and loading the rifle.

"That's like weird. I wonder why the guards aren't at their post." Alana asked as she drove the jeep toward the parking place that was assigned to it.

Julian sighs, but nods to Greg. He heads out to the yard of boys scrambling around. He puts his hands to his mouth and yells. "We got a rescue mission! I need volunteers front and center, state your name and position!"

He was sick of being volunteered... so the least he could do would be to not impose the same thing on others.

With Surge and Greg shouting orders, the base was picking up progress it lost. As Julian called for volunteers, the boys looked a little wary. He could tell that they hadn't ever been given the choice of their own. Several of them used the opportunity to continue their jobs. If the rescue mission was as bad or worse than this surprise attack, they wouldn't be involved.

A few, however, did step up to the plate. About five from the whole group. Two looked on the late end of the age spectrum, near seventeen or eighteen. Both their pockets read 'Samples'. They could nearly be twins. Another looked to be age sixteen and a little on the heavy side. Pocket read 'Clark'. The last two looked hardly old enough to hold guns. One pocket read 'Reese' while the other read 'Quinn'. Of them all, they seemed to shift the least on their feet.

"Justin Samples! Training Sargeant." said the tall brown-haired boy.
"Brian Samples! Munitions expert." said the similar looking one next to Justin.
"Wyatt Clark. Computer wizard." the chubby boy said as he pushed his glasses up his nose.
The two smaller boys simply pointed at each other, Reese pointed to his blonde haired companion while Quinn pointed to his red haired comrade. And with one syncronous motion, they both drew invisible knives across their throats.

***

As Alana drove into the garage, there was no radio transmission or greeting, simply echoing silence. It was almost eerie, though there were still several jeeps and bikes around the large room.

***

Charlotte's plea for Giselle was answered by the metallic silence she'd been surrounded by since she jumped through the portal. The halls were fairly narrow, perhaps only letting a single person walk down with comfort, though Charlotte felt pretty roomy being so much smaller than an adult. There were flashing lights and computer screens with tons of script that she couldn't recognize even if she tried. As she wandered around, she found herself into a large room with literally hundreds of monitors. Each one had a single image: Charlotte walking into the room.

Charlotte was finding it pretty hard to force her feet to make each step as she listened for a reply, but there was nothing beside her heavy and uneven breathing. She paused at the computer screens, casting her gaze over the script and shook her head in frustration before slowly moving onwards, stepping into the large room filled with monitors. Her eyes widened as she saw she was on each and every one of them, and took a hand off the gun, pushing it out beside her to see if all the monitor images did the same thing.

Surge chuckles seeing the group of rag tag boys. "Welcome gentlemen to the true test of your skills" he said motioning them to follow. "I hope your ready, cause we aint waiting for nothin" said Surge climbing into the choppa's pilot seat and starting up the engines. "Anyone care to take the side machine guns?"
"Let me confirm, your shelter shield is activated?"
"What are you planning?!"
"Your shelter is secure, is it?"
"Of course it is! Just see for yourself how powerless you are!"

Julian stares, feeling no little amount of annoyance as his volunteers are swept away by Surge.

Seeing him go for the chopper, he speaks up. "Anyone not interested in riding with that loudmouth can join me in the truck." He heads over to it.
