Victorious wrote:"That...what?"
Victor shakes his head, though it is hard to pull his gaze from Mischa.
"I'm sorry--that just sounds...well, silly."
After a moment, he manages to look back to Caine, a puzzle look in his eyes.
"Is this a joke? I mean--it doesn't even seem...why would they even DO that?"
He pauses, looking around, as if expecting a djinn peeking around a corner of something.
"And--I mean--why don't people stop them?"
Caine returns Victor's gaze evenly. "It is, unfortunately, not a joke -- although many of the parties involved view it as one, I assure you." She lets out a sigh. "As to why? Well, for most of them it's just whimsy. They have power, and they want to use it to satisfy their own whims and desires."
"As for stopping them, well... some people try, on occasion, and most of the time they fail." She smiles tightly. "We are trying to do what we can, however."
Ickle Harri-chan wrote:In a high rise apartment near the science district, two fourteen year olds were getting dressed in their shared bedroom. Summer, the blonde in black cotton underwear, was the more athletic of the two, with a skinny figure, and slightly taller than average. Katherine, the girl in pink bra and panties, had long, straight brown hair to her waist. She wasn't quite as thin as Summer, with slightly more curves, but was shorter. They were pulling on matching school uniforms, with grey pleated skirts, white button up blouses, red ties and grey jackets. They each had white socks to their knees and polished black shoes, with Summer's looking a bit more scuffed while Karherine's were pristine. The blonde girl fixed her long, straight hair in a ponytail towards the top of her head, while Katherine wore her hair loose with a thin pink hairband to hold it back from her face. The pair then raced eachother out if the bedroom, to the kitchen, where Dr. Bellisarius, the CTC scientist that had witnessed them both transformed from women, was setting out breakfast.
It was a race easily won by Summer, which meant she was the first to give the woman a hug and a kiss on the cheek, with Katherine doing the same before they took their seats at the table and spoke in unison, "Morning, Mom". Neither girl had given up hope of being returned to adulthood, but as the months had gone by, the pair had become more and more like normal teenagers. They weren't biological sisters, but they sure acted as if they were, and as far as Academy City society was concerned, they were. Neither had seen the other girl as an adult, so both of them considered themselves the more mature one, but in reality they were the same. "Can I come by the lab again after school, Mom?", asked the brown-haired schoolgirl. To begin with, they'd been told to simply act like the woman was their Mother to avoid drawing attention, but by now, there wasn't much acting needed as the two had bonded closely with her. Summer pressed a hand over her mouth and coughed 'nerd' before giving Katherine a sweet smile.
Being both smart and pretty, Katherine had settled into school well, her condition and her new parental figure both inspiring her to take a bigger interest in science, so it was the first club at school she signed up to, but has since joined several more. Summer found things a little more difficult. Having originally been part of the super soldier experiment from puberty, her first run as a teenager had seen her stronger, faster and fitter than other teens. She never got sick, never had spots or greasy hair like other teens, but the CTC had flushed that right out of her. She'd retained an interest in things she was good at before such as athletics, but struggled to deal with no longer having a big advantage. On top of that, she'd been in trouble several tines for fighting at school, sometimes even with boys!
Dr. Bellisarius smiles at the approach of the two young girls. "Why, of course you can visit the lab..." she purrs. She was operating her own independent lab now -- her own research was going in directions the CTC wasn't entirely certain about, and thus she now operated at arms length. On the other hand, she didn't particularly mind -- she still had her funding through various agencies in Academy City, as long as she made some token efforts towards finding cures.
She also had the benefit of at least one supersoldier willing to serve her, even if the young girl had a tendency to get into fights. Not that her 'mother' objected -- it was a way for her to keep her fighting skills in form, after all.
"Now, here are your lunches," she says, offering each girl a colorful bag containing their lunch. "Make sure you study hard at school!"

Sam's been around Academy City long enough to know her way around. There's a few particular arcades she enjoys for their selection of games, as well as other spots to hang out. As she wanders, however, she gets a call from Alyssa!
"Hey Sammy! You got a bit of free time this afternoon?" the woman asks.

As Ashley wanders, he'll find the place seems relatively peaceful and happy. A couple of the CTC's drones pause as they pass by, but after a momentary scan seem to pay him little heed.
Rei H. wrote:*Can be found sitting at one of the cafes in the city ordering some food.* So what shall happen today I wonder?
As Rei sits in the cafe, she'll overheard a couple of schoolgirls nearby peering at a laptop!
"Can you believe it? Supposedly there's this woman that randomly takes off her clothes!"
"That's gotta be just a myth!"
"No way! It's totally true! I saw it on this site on the network!"
"I don't believe it."
"Maybe she's some kind of TF victim! Like, they used one of those freaky colors on her, and it affected her mind so she randomly starts stripping!"
"Gah! Now you're creeping me out! You know I don't like hearing about those things!"
"Muahaha... the colors are gonna get you!"
The second girl shrieks, and covers her ears, her friend teasing her until the second girl shoves her away. "Stop that! Look at the time! We gotta get to class!"
The two quickly pack up their laptop, and scurry off!

When they arrive to their academy, they exchange goodbyes, and separate to head to their respective classes. Maris seems to be none the wiser about Reya's persisting headache issues, as she does a good job of concealing these things from others. She was raised that way, and later, trained that way... And yet, her real objective for being in the Academy City has yet to be completed, which continues to distract and annoy her enough to write off the headaches as a result of such frustrations...
If only mother would give me the go ahead already, she mentally rages to herself, what could she possibly be waiting for...!
Yes, another day for Reya and Maris at the Academy...
Fortunately, the headaches seem to be mild for Reya today... although as she arrives at class, a young girl with dark hair comes running up to her!
"Hey Reya! How're you today?" she shouts cheerfully, stopping just short of running into the other girl.
Oh yeah... it's that exceedingly cheerful girl named Hikari, that seems intent on making friends with Reya. Even after two months, she's still stubbornly trying to be friends...

Bones approaches one of the entrances to Academy City. They're all fairly nondescript, with just plain archways across the street marking the boundary. Beyond, the city seems fairly happy and peaceful.
"Well, well... isn't this quite the guest," a young woman's voice comes from the shadows under the archway.
