Thankfully, it seems Kaitlyn's workplace hasn't got anyhting too shocking in it. Ben and Jessica have already punched in and are sitting at their computers, booting them up to start working. A few other people are milling around, having an early morning caffinated coffee-flavored sludge to wake themselves before they get started.

Knight Errant wrote:Dan stares at the odd building... vaguely remembering the spot to be empty. "I guess that's why they are so in need of someone to work... must be a new place. Damned if it isnt half creepy, though..."

He parks out front of the place, getting out and heading inside.

Once inside, the door slams shut behind him with a liud ominous boom. The air is strangely humid, but chilling at the same time. The place is very poorly lit, the only real source of light cmong from the bar itself. A woman is standing behind it polishing a glass. She is eerily beautiful, with pitch black hair flowing down her back down to her waist. Her dress, a simple elagent black number with a slit down one side to show off her shapely legs is form hugging, showing off her waspish waist and sizable breasts. She looks up and smiles at Dan, revealing too-white teeth and dark eyes.

"Welcome Dan. Glad you could make it."

He doesn't even know where to start with such things, and the danger is still continuing. Besides, it's not like she was his friend. It's not like thousands of people don't die every day all over the world. Why should one near stranger matter more than any of them?

The rationale feels empty, but there's nothing else to be done really. Satisfied, so much as the word can be used for passively watching a disaster, that there's no real appropriate action to take, Elton continues to wait for something to happen his face an impassive mask. Why haven't they put out the fire yet? Shouldn't someone have stopped this by now?

As he thinks this, a single fire engine pulls up, it's srens blaring. The firemen get to work, blasting the fire with pressurized water as the teachers shake their head in disgust.

This is too weird...

He glances at the gentlemen, "...you know this song?"

The old man glances at Matthew and nods.

"Henry Hall. It's supposed to be a song to reassure children that the monsters they imagine aren't real, but this is different. Must be a stupid prank I suppose..."

Hush hush hush... here comes the boogieman...

"$10 for a ticket sir." She says.

Dan shivers a bit as the door slams behind him... or maybe it was the darkness... or chilling air... really there were many reasons to be disconcerted. That drops a bit as he sees the lit bar... and the woman behind it. She was definitely going in for the goth look it seemed...

He walks over to her. "Yeah, no problem... Um... can you tell me a bit about this job? The phonecall was a bit brief..." He looks around to see if there are any customers.

Kaitlyn tries her best to put the morning spectacle out of her mind. That image of the pale arm haunts her, and the normalcy of work only puts her more on edge. So many people can go on living, when something as grotesque as that happened just this morning... and she didn't' even know the victims.

Kaitlyn swipes her badge through the machine and clocks in. She silently stalks to her cubicle, having a moment of solitude as she tries to banish her lingering thoughts. A nice day of work should relax her nerves.

Kaitlyn discreetly connects her iPod to the company's WiFi and taps out a few messages to her friends, talking about the accident she saw.

"What?" Elton exclaims in surprise, before immediately covering his mouth with a hand. While wondering what the hell they mean by only one, Elton carefully takes a few steps closer to the teachers, eager to overhear more about what they said. If they knew something about what was happening, then Elton could certainly improve his situation by figuring out what that was. And why would they want more people to die?

Elton shook his head ruefully at that thought. Almost certainly he'd misheard or was missing some context that would make the whole thing more reasonable. He took another few steps toward the teacher, interested to hear more.

Paul reaches into his pocket and pulls out his wallet, a beaten up and rather old object. He opens it up and produces a ten dollar bill, handing it to the woman. Hope this is worth the admission price. he thinks to himself.

Other then himself and the woman, the bar is completely empty.

"Well Dan, what the job entails depends on how much you want it." the woman says, stepping out from behind the bar and slowly walking towards Dan, her hips swinging alluringly. She reaches out to caress his face, her skin as cold as ice.

Within minutes, Kaitlyn grecieves messages from her friends, asking if she's okay and how horrible it must have been. However, several of them talk about seeing similar things. Fires, burst water mains, collapsing scaffolding. It seems terrible accidents have been happening all over the city and even the country. Emergency services have been stretched thin responding to them all.

Kaitlyn can hardly believe the news... What is going on? These events... aren't natural... is it some kind of terrorist threat? Some kind of epidemic...?

She'd only read the first few chapters of The Stand, but it was enough to get her worried... was she feeling okay? Was anyone around her getting sick?

Kaitlyn could hardly concentrate on her work, with all that news flooding in... she might have to ask for the day off, and hide away until the CDC did something... In between bouts of programming, from one function to the next, she runs searches on the internet to any causes for all these horrible accidents.

He nods in agreement with the man, "...that's the only thing it can be. Or a mistake -- making the radio host screwed up the tracks and... I mean I know several restaurants use the same commercial channel and such. But still." He shakes his head once more, "...so odd. Sends a chill down my spine."

Paul takes his ticket and enters the museum. He looks around as soon as he's inside, seeing if there are any clues as to why so many people would come here today.

Elton covers his eyes with one hand, trying to keep the dust out. Fire's everywhere?! This is... bad. In the relatively small scope of Elton's life experience he hasn't seen or heard anything that's prepared him for such an event. "Fires everywhere?" The coincidence seems almost forced. If the school didn't get much help because it's so comparatively well off... The thought is rather terrifying to finish.

"Oh, I can assure you, you will never have to worry about money again..." she says, pressing herself against him. He may notice that her body is cold, and he can't feel her heart beating.

Kaitlyn would find that this isn't exactly localized. Terrible things are happening all other the world. Earthquakes, storms and fires in every country. Any news she can find isn't exactly informative. No cause can be found for any of them, though there are some claiming that the world is ending.

As she reads this, she may notice something. A black insect perched on her computer monitor, staring at her.

"Same her young man. Best not to dwell on it." the old man says, walking away.

Don't let him come too close to you, he'll catch you if he can...

Shadowmaster wrote:Paul takes his ticket and enters the museum. He looks around as soon as he's inside, seeing if there are any clues as to why so many people would come here today.

THe place is full to bursting! People are clamoring around the artwork like they would die if they didn't see some quality art. Indeed, Paul may bump into people more then once.

Eventually, a fireman approaches the students and teachers

"Well... sorry folks... do their parents know?" he asks a teacher.

"They have been alerted..." a teacher says, wiping tears from her eyes.

Paul decides to try to gather some info once again, hopefully having more luck than he did with the girl in the line. He walks over to the nearest person. "Hey, out of curiosity, what made you decide to visit the museum today?" he asks.

He nods at the old fella as he moves away, and replies "...right... I'll try not to..." He then glances at the store front again, and shakes his head "...this is just... something is going on." He checks his watch, "...but I don't want to be late for work." He takes a deep breath, as his mind races about rather he should investigate or not...

...he secures his things and starts up again, but that song is stuck in his head now. Or is it? It does seem to be everywhere.
