Greenhouse 216

Postby Feng » Mon May 02, 2011 4:33 pm

For Kaba who requested a particular TF.

In one of the nicer areas of town, one located between the Chaijin Marketplace and Little Britainia, is an obscure part of town known for its green scenery, luscious parks and especially its many flower shops. The buildings are old fashion and constructed from red brick that almost inevitably becomes swamped by the creeping ivy native to this area. The weather in this district is almost always fair and lovely and the people are extremely friendly, in a creepy Stepford Wives sort of way...

However this story does not take place here. No sir!

Rather the setting of our tale is just on the outskirts this flower district bordering the Chaijin district. Rumors have persisted as of late of a certain greenhouse once dedicated to experiments in horticulture and botany. While it is unknown what caused this small greenhouse to shut down rumors persist of individuals disappearing into it in the dead of night. However rumors also persist of rare plants, almost alien in nature, that were once housed in the inner depths of the facility. Tales also depict tales of flowers of colors of the rainbow and of fruit that has been grown to be twice as sweet!

Truly this place is a treasure trove for those willing to risk the unknown mysteries that comprise GREENHOUSE 216!

Lightning flashes ominously despite the clear weather. OooOooOoo!

Albedo happens to wander about the area, looking for any grass or bug pokemon that may have somehow snuck into the area. "Hmm," he says as he spys the green house, moving toward it.

*Steps through one of the walls of the greenhouse looking around.* A rival green house. I wonder if I can't find something actually new enough for me to err.... 'study'. ((And by study he means steal a sample of and grow it himself.))

At first sight one would hardly be able to tell that Greenhouse 216 had been abandoned by its occupants. The greenhouse, a large white dome building with smaller greenhouses attached to it by transparent walkways, appears to be in perfect condition aside from the graying wall and the abundance of ivy growing on the walls. However as Albedo approaches he feels a certain 'emptiness' come from within....

Bulba! Bulbasaur!

A WILD BULBASAUR APPEARED!

Indeed the iconic pokemon can be seen preening itself in front of the entrance to the facilty! Even more exciting, its of the shiny variety! Bishiesaur!

Raleigh enters into Lab 36, a bio-dome dedicated to desert plants native to the south western regions. All manner of cacti fill the room from prickly pear to saguaro to cactus of shapes and sizes that have yet to be documented by other researchers!

Albedo picks up a stone, and tosses it toward the Bulbasaur, trying to knock it out. What a novice move. Either way, it's his strategy as he closes in toward it.

The shiny Bulbasaur is clearly startled by Albedo's noobiness!

"Bulba! Bulbasaur!" it cries in terror as it retreats deeper into the building.

Albedo gains skill in noobishness. He uses this skill to foolishly charge into an old greenhouse. Wait, that's not good, this is THE MUFFINVERSE!!!

Hm... *Begins to study some of the cacti to see if they have any unusual properties as well as shapes.* Let us see if any of you might have something odd to you. Perhaps a fruit or something? *Ponders also taking at least one sample and cross breeding it with the dragon fruits.*

Indeed it is! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :lol:

Albedo enters the lobby of the facility. It is a large round room with six doorways leading off into various directions. Although the power is out, the young Pokemon trainer can clearly tell where these doors lead due to the signs posted on the doors.

::Lab 36-Desert Bio-Dome::
::Lab 18-Swamp Bio-Dome::
::Lab 42-Jungle Bio-Dome::
::Lab 13-Orchards::
::Lab 66-Research Facility::
::Lab 12-Greenhouse Archive::

It would appear that door to Lab 12 has been left ajar. A pair of muddy Pokemon prints lead within...

In the course of Raleigh's investigation he comes across a curious form of cactus known as the Chaijin Devil cactus. A small sign is placed beneath giving further information. The cactus itself is vibrant green with strange red fruits hanging from its limbs.

He ignored the sign, or glanced over the top bits, as he ran after the tracks. "I'm going to get you!" He yelled as he ran into the archives.

Chaijin Devil Cactus? I wonder if the name is a reference to Little Whirlwind? *Stops in front of it to read the sign.* Just because I'm immortal doesn't mean I should be reckless. Let's see what this fruit might do before blindly eating it.

::Albedo::
Albedo enters a small cramped room filled with bookcases and filling cabinets. The floor is a mess, covered in unfiled documents depicting information on plant growth, expenses and research. In the far corner of the room is a lone TV placed atop a portable filing cabinet. The device hums softly. Attached is a VCR with a lone tap sticking out. It appears to still be in good condition and might still play if properly inserted into the machine.

Aside from dust bunnies and spiders the room is devoid of life...

Chaijin Devil Cactus
Ferocactus Chaijinus

This particular species of cactus is native to the South Western desert and is grown in the mountains. The fruit is a powerful hallucinogen said to be used by Chaijin shaman to commune with the Smoking One, a mythological entity who appears in many Chaijin mythologies.

Heh, that reminds me of a warning the first time I used peyote or those poppies. Let's find the special properties of this plant the best way we can. *Plucks up one of the fruits.* Down the hatch. *Eats one.*

::Albedo::
The tape enters the VCR. After a brief moment of warming up the TV plays the following scene. Although the quality is a bit poor Albedo should be able to make out what is happening:

<A balding scientist, likely in his late 40's, stands in the middle of a laboratory surrounded by glasses. The glare on his round glasses prevent Albedo from seeing his eyes. A name tag is sewn on the left breast of his lab coat, designating the man as one Dr. Kazan.>

Scientist: Preparations for project Eden is proceeding without a hitch. I've finally obtained the funding needed to carry out the necessary experiments and construction for our brand new facility has just been completed...

The film suddenly fast forwards, displaying the man in the middle of what appears to be the jungle...

::Raleigh::

Down the hatch!

The fruit is rather bitter and gritty yet after awhile the bitterness subsides for a wave of spicy hotness. At this point many normal mortals would be running around screaming in agony at the flavor that is hotter than a than a thousand hells.
