As the kaiju penguin lumbers forwards, the mecha unleashes a salvo of missiles, exploding across the creature's body with thunderous force! The pilot notices the two new individuals approaching, however. "Major, I've got H-class individuals approaching. What do you want me to do?"

"Delay the kaiju if you can. Don't interfere with the new arrivals. Let's see what they can do, first."

Raleigh wrote:Yep, that is me. Heh, cute with the height comment. If you wish though I could reform into whatever height you prefer. Aye, I am here to observe and probably help deal with it depending on how things play out. Besides, I figure that I should be on site so as to be ready to thaw out an Ice 9 type situation should it happen rather than being caught busy with something else. You guys having fun testing out new equipment?

Major Durant then turns her attention back to Raleigh. "No need to change your shape -- I just find it intruiging that you choose such a form, given your reputation. Then again, perhaps it is more appropriate." She chuckles slightly, but quickly turns serious again. "Hopefully things won't go that far. If I remember my literature correctly, Ice-9 was capable of destroying the world. While I'm sure you could manage to reset things, dealing with something of that magnitude would be troublesome at this point."

She glances at the mecha. "As for new equipment... we're always looking for ways to increase our options for dealing with difficulties. This world makes it difficult for conventional military force to be effective in some situations, and so it seemed like a good idea to try and construct individual units that could deal with something too large for our SIBLINGs to handle."

Well if you all ever need it in the future I would be happy to help test out your equipment by facing off with it. Might be educational for both of us. My reputation has a life of its own I sometimes think. Ice 9 actually freezes the universe by removing all its heat. Not the worst thing I've ever had to fix but annoying and let me tell you those Kyubey don't like people casting it.

The major quirks an eyebrow. "I thought it just caused all water to freeze into an identical crystalline configuration, so that all water froze as ice-9. Devastating to the biosphere, yes, but it wouldn't spread beyond a planet, nor did it actually reduce the temperature any..." She shrugs.

"As for testing new devices against you... the prospect of finding a deserted island to do so has been suggested on occasion, although thus far it's been debatable if we'd actually learn enough from it," she says with a slight smile.

I think you are using the concept of Ice-9 from Vonnegut's works. That one indeed does as you say however the usual manifestation of the Ice 9 spell is the one I mentioned or at least that is the only one I've seen other cast. Personally I think Κοσμικη Καταστροφή is more than effective enough for most targets. Ensis Exsequens is also a fun one to use for sheer perversity given how it works. Admittedly I rarely have to use anything beyond my Frozen Wasteland spell myself as its usually effective enough against soft targets.

I could conjure up a suitable land mass if you choose to do so. Its not that hard to do. A bit of earth magic and such. A lot less tiresome than building a planet completely from scratch.

The missile barrage manages to temporary stun the encroaching menace. It squawks defiantly at the Mecha before its beady gaze is drawn to the approaching Julia and her robotic escort. Fortunately for Light, he is far off enough to escape the wrath of the enraged bird. Anyways, upon catching its second wind, the beast unleashes yet another icy gale at the two challengers!

MEANWHILE....!

"Anywhere is good, so long as you don't disrupt the circle. We wouldn't want to disrupt the party, especially not before we send our special guest to meet his maker!" says Bones, grinning maliciously, motioning to the bound figure in the center of the circle.

Blaze quirks an eyebrow as she stays outside the circle.

"Is that the guy? Whatshisface... Stone Beak?"

The machine deploys flares to avert the missiles. Julia chills, but ultimately stays on as they draw nearer.

"As long as the missiles don't have any lingering effect, we should be okay, right?"

The machine nodded.

Meanwihle...

Light meanwhile, takes his ninja form. His speed increases significantly, and when he reaches the Penguin, he jumps on it and begins to scale its side. Ninjas can do that, you know.

"Most astute investigator!" says Bones. "It would appear that our operation was noticed much earlier than I anticipated. While you were gone, our Shaman pal here decided to send the majority of his forces against us. Turns out his small rabble was no match for the power of our firearms!"

He turns to the bound shaman who is cursing vehemently at the two.

"It is quite fortunate that I was able to capture him. With such a power source acting as the toll, our ritual will be more effective than expected! Of course, with nobody around to control the Destroyer, I'm afraid the beast may go on a destructive rampage in the remaining time it is here."

MEANWHILE
As Light the Shinobi scales the beast, he will notice that the feathers appear to be made of some form of metal! If he is not careful he may very well cut his hand...

The Chill is quite cold, yet nothing Julia and her robot chum can't overcome.

*Time seems to freeze in the sacrificial room as color drains away from everything as far as Stone Beak can tell. He hears a voice even as a man dressed in black seems to step forth from the ether.* My my Stone Beak, seems you are in a pickle. What would you be willing to do for an out from this situation?

"Patience. These things take expert timing to perform successfully."

Stone Beak meanwhile glares as best he can at the enigmatic figure.

"What business brings you here sorcerer? You don't look like a messenger of Smoking Toaster."

While Light does find that the metal feathers are not the most comfy things to grab onto, he doesn't fall, and presumably, keeps clinging until he finds a way in.

The machine, meanwhile, upped it's boosters, speeding faster toward the penguin.

*Shifts into his own chibi form while walking around and behind the bound Stone Beak.* Indeed I am not. Let's not mince words or make mistakes shaman, you will sacrifice something tonight regardless of your choices here. Now I offer you a chance. Will you serve me and as such get a chance to continue living and possibly carry out the Smoking Toaster's works while aiding me or will you die here tonight as nothing but a cold lump of flesh losing its life's blood? What will it be?

Blaze rolls her eyes and catches Stone Beak glaring at her.

"Keep that up and I might pass the time tasering you."

"Oh? Messenger of the Smoking One? Well maybe she is closer then you think?" smiled Megan as she looked at the bound chibi. She then looked at Bones. "And me?"
