"Wake up." Jimmy heard the voice, of course, as they all had. That didn't mean he had to listen to it. The things he had seen, heard, and experienced over the last few minutes made him wonder if even immortality was worth it all.
The pain he had felt after that...click. It was worse than anything he had ever experienced. Breaking his arm years back had nothing on it, at all. And then that flame, that odd, deep red flame appeared, and he was goaded into taking it by the same voice that was now beckoning him to wake up. The same voice that, he guessed, was behind all the pain and craziness he had just gone through.
Nope, no way. He had had just about enough of listening to this thing. He continued to lay on the ground, eyes tightly shot.
"Wake up, now!" he heard, the voice gaining urgency. He opened his mouth, about to yell for it to shut up, when he heard a loud crashing noise.
Jimmy's eyes snapped open, and he jumped to his feet. It was at this moment, that a few things struck him as really freaking weird. First, there was the giant, burning monster that was now standing in the middle of the town. He was pretty sure that that hadn't been there a few moments ago.
Secondly, there some girls all getting off the ground as he was. Had the voice made them the same offer? Were they in the same position he was? He didn't know, and the monster and Jimmy's third revelation pushed those thoughts to the side very quickly.
The third realization came from when he got to his feet, and his body felt...off. He felt stronger, but also smaller, and his body seemed to be moving differently. He saw one of the girls looking into the window of one of the shops, seemingly shocked by what she saw. He turned his head to look into the same window, and the
image he saw reflected put him into the same state of shock.
Jimmy approached the window briskly, watching the girl in it do the same, matching his movements perfectly. When he stood directly next to the window, he scowled, as did the girl, and sighed. "When I said I didn't want to be an old man..." he said, wincing a bit at his new voice, "I didn't really expect this to be your solution." Among the other changes, he noticed his new eyes, the same color as that damn flame he had taken.
"It looks like you will have to take it from here." he heard, recognizing the voice as the one that had been speaking to him this whole time. "This will be your first test. I would rather it not be so soon, but this situation is hardly ideal."
He turned away from the window, looking to the monster holding the girl who had been fighting it. He could smell her flesh as it held her, and his new face contorted a bit. Then, he turned his attention to the...owlcat.
"You want us to fight that?" he asks. "And I guess since I agreed to be a warrior for you, I don't have too much of a choice, huh? But, unless you brought enough of those magic guns for all of us, I don't think we have too much of a chance." he adds, walking toward the creature. "And you definitely owe some answers as to why I look like this now."
I am a ninja, zam.
