Several years after the events recorded in "Incident Blue", things have more or less returned to normal. The United Space Colonial Navy had been given a blank check, and new warships had been rolled out by the dozens... staffed with fresh recruits eager to guard against the alien incursion... which never came.
Eventually it was labeled as an isolated incident. Enlistment fell, the USCN auctioned off its surplus ships, and people went on with their lives. The only ones still concerned with the strange aliens that had converted a colony were Yuma Flats Energy Consortium. Their expensive post-incident contract with the military would not expire for five decades yet... so they kept on researching, experimenting, and keeping tabs on those survivors had escaped.
Currently, a reclaimed USCN ship bought by Yuma Flats is en route to Artemis Station. No one on board were told what for, only that it was the highest priority. Their ship, the Longbow, is an experimental scout ship and light interceptor. Using a revolutionary engine, it makes the same trip in weeks what it used to take years. As such the crew are in their quarters instead of cryo tubes when the message comes out on the PA system.
"This is Captain Blackwell, all crew to report to the main observation deck for debriefing. That is all."
