Jackie knew from experience that seven times out of ten, those two words were a lie. She took a few more tenative steps in, eyeing the billowing "hair"...
"Hey, c'mon, I don't bite," she said half-jokingly, feeling her fangs with her tongue again.
Oh crap, she thought, what if she's hiding from me? She might've seen me coming down the street and ducked in here to hide... I'm not making this any better, I should just leave...
The emotional side of her brain forced her to approach the flowing hair. That old man didn't think so, did he? Where would you be if it weren't for random acts of kindness?
Her left half couldn't think of a response, so she kept slowly approaching the hair, but didn't look around the side, lest she spook the poor girl. Jackie never got a good look at her own face, but going from what she saw on the show this appears to be based on, she wouldn't be too pleasant to see. And also probably wouldn't be trusted even if she was.
Crap. I had to be a Changeling, didn't I?
Jackie stopped, but didn't leave. "C'mon, I promise I won't hurt you. What's the matter?" Her tone was a bit more harsh than she intended, but she was never the "motherly" type.
