Age of Aggression

[Legendary Hawk]

"Now? Eh..." Rath stood from the side of the bed and stumbled a little bit. "But I haven't even slept yet!" He was starting to sound lazy, which was unbecoming of an assassin. But seeming lazy was much better than seeming like a malcontent... "Eh. You lead the way..." With a sluggish attitude, Rath gathered everything he would need for the trip. Including his ale.

[Haylie]

"Neither have I," Malak replied, "We can camp somewhere along the way as it gets dark. It's a long way to Dawnstar from here."

With that, he headed quickly for the large, black door that marked the entrance and exit to their large base, not looking at any of the other Brothers.

Rath followed his partner outside. This would be their last mission together, and he didn't want to spoil it by sulking. So he began to move more quickly, trying to seem like he was ready and prepared to advance. "Let's see... Want to pick up a horse on the way to Falkreath?"

[Haylie]

(Yup. We'll say they slept well and are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when they get there. Well, in Malak's case, a bit less gruff at least. )

"That or we can swipe Astrid's," Malak said snarkily, "I hear it's quite the ride."

"Hahaha... I'd rather not," Rath replied, genuinely fearing the punishment his leader would impose upon him if he stole anything from her. Luckily, it didn't take long to find a horse, and it didn't take too long to get to Dawnstar - even while stopping to set up camp and sleep along the way.

[Haylie]

As they arrived, Malak took a deep whiff and looked around. "Ah, Dawnstar. I remember my first trip to Dawnstar. ... Actually, I don't. I was sorta drunk at the time."

[Legendary Hawk]

"I've actually never forgotten anything that happened while I was drunk," commented Rath. "Must be 'cause I'm a Nord." The young assassin laughed for a moment or two before regaining his composure. "Alright... let's find this Geoff. We're heading for the Windpeak Inn, correct?"

[Haylie]

"Aye, I know where that is, at least," he said with a chuckle as he lead the way to the inn in question. "Fine wine and singing, for such an out-of-the-way place. At least it was last I was here."

[Legendary Hawk]

"I've never spent more than a day here. Never had any reason to..." As Rath followed Malak, he tried to keep his mind set on the kill as a sort of business, and not as anything personal. He was selling himself out, selling his Nord heritage and selling his hopes to see the Stormcloaks prevail. But he didn't have much of a choice, it seemed. If he backed out, his Brothers would likely kill him.


Meanwhile, Geoff sat by himself at a table inside the inn. He looked just like the description from the scroll said he would.

[Haylie]

"There he is," Malak said, pointing at the man in question. "Would you like to do the talkin'? As practice for your first solo mission, if nothin' else."

Nodding to Malak, Rath quietly approached the client and sat down at the table across from him. Geoff, noticing Rath, gave the guy a strange look. "I'm Geoff. Are you..." He didn't want to ask if they were the Dark Brotherhood, fearing that others in the inn would overhear.


"You've asked for our services," Rath replied, with a dull and emotionless voice. "Am I correct?"


"Y-yes, uh... Why don't you follow me to my room? So we can discuss this matter more... Personally." With that, Geoff stood from his seat and headed into one of the inn's rooms. Rath followed directly behind him and shut the door once everyone was inside.

Malak followed silently behind, arms crossed, face stern and hard. He liked to keep up a facade of aloof unconcern that is often attributed to Dark Brotherhood members. When the door closed, he snorted and stared into Geoff's face. "We haven't got all day."

"I know, I know! I'm just being cautious. Now... You've read the scroll, yes?" Geoff asked. "I'd like to see it... So that I know I'm speaking with the right people." Rath grunted angrily. He hated that he had to help this short, nervous Imperial kill off a Stormcloak, and the guy's level of annoyance made it even worse. "You've got it, right?" he asked Malak, turning towards his buddy.

[Haylie]

Malak whipped the paper out impatiently and unrolled it so Geoff could see it. "There. Proof enough for you?"

Seeing the scroll made Geoff much more comfortable, and ready for business. With a relaxed sigh, he continued, "Excellent. Can't be too careful, can you? Now, here's what I have to saw about the target... Hygelac. He's a large fellow, pale skin and blonde hair. Just like any Nord. And he dresses like a Stormcloak commander... Hard to miss!" Geoff paused for a moment and rubbed his hands. "I've recently learned he'll be overseeing a supply shipment tomorrow night. He'll be standing around the docks for some time, no doubt. He's bound to have bodyguards, though, so you may want to consider a ranged attack... So long as it kills him. Is this information sufficient?"
