Don't know why I'm always late in finding out about these, but...
On January 19, 2013, former Baltimore Orioles manager Earl Weaver passed away at 82 years of age. Earl was a consistent winner for the Baltimore team, but did not get along well with umpires (his long-standing feud with Ron Luciano during the 1970s had gotten to the point where his team established a betting pool, to see when Earl would be thrown out of the game). During the 1980s, he assisted several software developers with the AI of a computer game that would come to bear his name.
Former baseball star Stan "The Man" Musial is noted to have died the same day. He spent his entire decades-long career with the St. Louis Cardinals, and even now is considered one of the best hitters of all time.
It's a trifle, if ever was.
