Rare Indeed

In a dark, abandoned alley somewhere deep in Muffinville, a little golden ball of light appears floating in the air, and descends to the ground. The glow then disappears, leaving behind an Eevee with an unusual white-and-silver coloration to its fur, and a scar across its left eye. It looks around, clearly suspicious of its surroundings, and then moves to the edge of the alleyway, carefully examining the more populated street beyond.

*An Umbreon walks past, a plastic bag full of small foodstuffs clenched in his teeth. A few moments later he backs up to the alley, blinking at what he sees.*

Umbreon: ---...Wait, what?--- *blinks again* ---...Okayyy... I'm at a loss for words.---

The Eevee jumps when the umbreon comes back, and then appears to frown, glaring at him. "⊓⋈⊓↯ ⌉⊨⊐⊐ ⌈∵⋈⊓⋄ ⌘⌬⍁?" It makes a series of sounds that seem to be intended as a question.

*The Umbreon takes a few moments to parse through the Eevee's question, then attempts to reply in kind. Keyword is "attempts".*

Umbreon: ʗ˩ϠӜ--- --...Wait, that didn't come out right.-- ʗ˩Ծ ٯଋ... ʗ˩Ծ ʔ↯... *growls in frustration and drops the bag he was carrying* --Do you speak the common tongue at all? Your dialect's twisting my vocal cords.--

The eevee facepalms, looking rather frustrated. It then points to one of its ears and nods, then points to its mouth (more particularly, the tongue) and shakes its head.

Umbreon: --Alright... I think I get it.-- *nods just a bit, sitting on his haunches* --You can understand me fine, but you can't reply the same way. Do I have that right?--

The eevee nods. It then points at some of the people nearby and draws a circular shape with a horizontal line through its center in the air with its forepaws. "⊨↯?"

Umbreon: *looks back at the people for a few moments before understanding* --If you're asking if any of them are
Pokémon trainers, then I don't know. Far as I'm aware, my boss is the only one within several miles.--

It looks fairly relieved at that, and then pauses, looking at the umbreon with another suspicious look. After taking a couple of seconds to put together what it's trying to say, it points at him, shakes its head, and draws the circle-line symbol again.

Umbreon: *after a few moments thought* --I'm subject to one, yes, but I spend more time out of the Ball than in it.-- *sweatdrops* --Let's just say my boss is an oddball and leave it at that.--

The eevee shrugs, and appears to loosen up a bit. It then looks around the street area again as if trying to decide which direction to go.

[AmbushCat]

Umbreon: --Well, it was nice meeting you. My name's Swift.-- *picks up his bag with his teeth* --I'll warn you now that it's kinda weird around here.--

The eevee nods, shrugs to the comment about it being weird, and then makes a gesture of placing one of its forepaws above the other and then pointing behind itself. And then it starts moving along the street, rather deftly avoiding people's feet as it does so.

*Swift remains where he is for a short bit, staring after the Eevee silently. At the end of that, Ambush Cat's Gengar dematerializes next to him.*

Vacuum: --Hey, are you coming? The boss-man's wondering what's taking you.--

Swift: *gestures at the departing Eevee* --We've got a newcomer to Muffinville down there, and I don't think it quite knows what it's getting into. Tell Ambush I'm going to be a few minutes while I try and make sure that nothing major happens to it.--

Vacuum: --Such as... eating a Color fruit without knowing what it is?--

Swift: --Exactly.--

Vacuum: --Gotcha.--

*The Gengar claims Swift's grocery bag, then disappears with it. The Umbreon stealthily trails after the Eevee from a distance, angling himself to prevent being detected by scent.*

The Eevee seems to be trying to travel constantly in the same direction, turning only to go around obstructions. Occasionally it seems to pause and sniff the air, but then returns to its work. If it continues like this for long enough it should be out of the city--at least, assuming this area obeys normal geometry.
