The stantler-man puts a hand to his forehead, remembering. "Oh, uh, yeah--the lockers in the exercise room and ring rooms are soulkeyed, so you can just open any of them and put your stuff in, and open any of them to get it back out. No one else can get to yours without some kinda soul fakery, which is...hard. Just, aah, I forget which but one of them is broken, so, if it starts spewing static and white noise don't use that one."

Dact looks down at the berry... looking at it critically. "Ah, I thought I'd be fighting these things, not being one. Though... I suppose this would make things even..." He rubs his chin as he considers it... glancing back up to the man. "And this has no ill effects, yes?"

Callista: *beaming grin* Sweetness in a can. Thanks, man.

*Calli immediately leaves the room, setting her course for the ring room... or to be more exact, the restrooms within. She wastes no time there, immediately shifting to her Delcatty-hybrid form before leaving (described below; highlight to view); of note is that her ever-present purse has been turned into an extra belt around her waist (which makes three). Following that, she makes a beeline for the lockers, takes note of which ones are unused, and tests it in case of the aforementioned static and white noise.*

((OOC: In Callista's hybrid form, her human appearance changes to become significantly more Delcatty-like while retaining the same physical build. This includes yellow fur, oversized ears, large furred collar and deep brown eyes. It should be noted that all the places that would normally be purple---the ears, collar, and tail tip---are calico-patterned instead. The sweater and dark blue jeans she was wearing are replaced with frayed knee-length jean shorts, a gray T-shirt with "Cats rule" stenciled across the front, and open-toed sandals that allow space for her clawed feet.))

The stantler-man nods, "Oh, completely. We've got some people been going back and forth for years and no problem. Ahh, I should mention it's supposed to go one-to-one on things like general build and gender but it, uh, doesn't always. Something about just being in this universe makes it turn men to women fairly often, I mean. But it might not do that, either."


It seems like there's only a couple of lockers in each area, but none of them look used and there aren't any locks on them. The one Callista tries is apparently not the dud, and opens to a normal locker interior. If she went to the room nearest the restroom, there's a ring here and a Mightyena-like man sitting on a stool behind it and slightly to the right, facing a wall (not the door she would have come in through) and just generally looking unhappy.

*Callista puts the bag away---stopping only to take a quick swig of Mountain Dew Livewire first---and shuts the locker door before giving said room a full appraisal. Strangely, the Mightyena-man is noticed last.*

Callista: Huh... guess it's time for the majordomo bird to hippety-hop all the way to the birdie boiler. *takes a few cautious steps towards him* Hey, sir. Why the sour look?

"Oh, nothing particular," he says sarcastically, in a deep, gravelly voice with something of a British accent. "Just the first thing management wants me to do after reaching uber tier is go do a testing day. I did all that work lookin' for a challenge, and instead I have to spend all day stomping a bunch of level-ten weaklings with delusions of--" He chooses this moment to actually look at Callista, and he pauses a good several seconds, his face slowly turning white. "Err..th-that is, uh, nothin' wrong at all, nope!" He stands up abruptly and tries so hard to grin that it looks like it hurts. "You, uh, you just--if you just registered, I mean, this is the right place! Sure!"

Dact nods. "Alright, then. I appreciate the warnings." He looks back to it... and shrugs. "Nothing ventured..." He picks it up and goes to pop it into his mouth.

Callista: Errrr... 'kay. *blinks* I don't watch too many matches, but I think I recognize the face. *offers her hand to shake* Name's Callista.

The berry enters Dact's mouth unhindered! It tastes sweet, but slightly metallic, and there's an odd sense that it's not entirely there. Eating it gives him a kind of chill down his spine at first, which starts to progress into a more general cold feeling, though his body doesn't react to the feeling with shivering like it usually would.


"Clyve, myself," says the man, shaking the offered hand. "Now, the way this works is you have a light spar with two or three experienced fighters in the rings around here and we recommend what tier to put you in. Folks move up and down all the time, but the idea is to not start somebody who could beat a legendary in the low tiers, like, or someone who, you know, don't belong in the upper ones. They used to try measuring levels and stats, but it don't work all that well. Turns out strategy is more important." He says this last bit with what seems like pride. Then Clyve leans forward a bit, conspiratorially. "Hones'ly though, I'd put you wherever you want if you don't mention my little outburst to anyone."

Callista: Makes sense... *frowns* ...though I'd much rather earn my way into whatever tier I'll end up being in. *walks to the closest ring* Fat lot of good being placed high up would do me if my abilities don't match up.

Dact hrms... feeling the strange, insubstantial chill... "Well, thats a bit unpleasant." He mutters.

"Well, we can get right to sparring or I can pop up a dummy if you want to warm up," says Clyve. "Let me know if there is some way to buy your silence, though. I'd really hate to get kicked down for bad behavior at this point..."


The chill seems to spread throughout Dact's body. He gets a paradoxical sense of becoming more solid and yet less..all there, somehow, as if he could just decide to disappear at any time, and it would work. If he checks, what's under his skin feels more like solid metal than flesh; even though his sense of touch is working normally, things like poking or pinching don't seem to cause any pain or noticeable injury. Once the cold feeling has reached the tips of his extremities, he will find himself starting to shrink slightly, his body taking on slimmer proportions but not feeling particularly weaker per se..and his clothes start merging together and taking on a dull golden shade.


((I feel like I've done a really poor job articulating the layout, so I made an extremely not-to-scale map thing. Basically, each ring has its own room here. Callista's in the room "Ring 1" is in; Clyve's stool is about in the "lower-right" corner from the perspective of the map. Each room with a ring in it has what seems to be just a couple of lockers in it, but actually all of the lockers link to the same "bag of holding" pocket dimension, a locker-sized section of is assigned to each person who opens a locker and only that person can access it, but that person can access the dimension by opening any of the lockers in the building.))

Callista: I think I'm good to go anytime... shopping sprees are how I warm up. >^_^< *shrugs* And I don't think you have anything to worry about on that score. Long as you don't get between me and food or merchandise, I think we'll get along just fine.

Dact blinks... looking down and prodding himself. This was all quite odd... and the feeling of being insubstantial is very unnerving.
