D takes the hit, holding steady, but her body gains a slightly orangeish glow, and immediately after taking the hit she gives a hard kick straight to Callista's center, apparently channeling the power causing the glow through it.

The person manning the front desk is leaning over on it, obviously asleep when the guy walks in.
"Snrk!" He wakes up with a start on hearing a voice and sits up straight instantly, showing a pair of unusual antlers with an odd hypnotic draw to them. The guy himself seems pretty laid back in general, though. "Uh. Yeah, yeah, something like that. It's for pokemorphs. Uh, if you already got a form like that I can sign you up, or if you don't there's a safe way to get one here for not much."

Callista: *snarls* No choice!

*Not being a position to properly dodge for at least another few seconds and believing that trying to survive this hit would likely leave her on her last legs---if not outright KO'ing her---Callista instead opts to play defense. A shield-shaped cloud of cyan sparkles flares out from her, intercepting D's Counter an inch from her stomach.*

The guy rubs his chin. "Pokemorphs? Like... Pokemon?" He takes a closer look at the man at the counter. "Huh... well, I've always been a fan of Bruno's ideology. Fighting alongside your friends and whatnot." He nods. "So what you're really getting at is that I can pay you money to get a powerboost that will let me compete with all the crazy stuff out there... and you'll even teach me to use it?" He grins. "Sign me up!"

Without even seeming to react to the no-sell of her last attack, D presses the assault again, blurring straight out of normal vision and reappearing at Callista's left side with an abundance of new momentum, aiming to slam it straight into her.

Desk guy scratches his head slightly. "Pretty close. It's less of a power boost and more of a compatible form with similar power, but I've known folks who didn't think they could fight all that well and turned into fairly powerful pokemorphs, too. Uh, anyway.." He indicates a small stack of papers already on the desk with a pen stacked on top of them. "Someone left without signing the boilerplate, so that's there if you want in. It's mostly just, don't sue us for being in pain while you're in the ring, and some promotional copyright stuff you get lots of chances to renegotiate later.
"The fee for the thing to give you a pokemorph form is five dollars, or whatever equivalent you've got. That's about how much it costs to make one."

*Callista's eyes flick in D's direction, keeping track of her movements with little issue. She attempts to use Quick Attack to hasten her recovery, but Extremespeed trumps QA any day.

...Still, she is at least able to realign herself in such a way that the full impact lifts her off the ground, getting her feet beneath her as she goes flying. Before she can hit the ring ropes, she twists to face D and slams both feet against the floor, skidding to a stop upright.*

Nonchalant guy nods and grabs a pen from the cup on the desk. "Sounds reasonable. Even so, it sounds like a bargain even if it is a marginal improvement." He starts scribbles his name on the waivers and other paperwork... and oddly enough, it turns out his name really is Guy. He reaches into his back pocket, pulling out some loose change, a button, some lint, and a few bills. It's of a variety of denominations, but if the exchange rates are fair, it should be more than enough to cover the fee.

D makes a swift version of a very kamehameha/hadouken-like motion, generating a bright ball of pink-colored aura and sending it off in Callista's direction; it acts more like a heat-seeking missile than a ball of fire after being launched, though. She then starts her own full-tilt charge on Callista's position.

The man behind the desk nods as he looks over the forms and then scratches his head while looking over the assorted currency. After a moment he apparently decides it's enough entirely in his head without consulting the internet or a calculator or anything. After depositing that all somewhere behind the counter, he retrieves a small paper plate with something resembling a blueberry on it and places that before Guy. The small fruit glows continuously-shifting colors in a way that would be very disconcerting in any world without magic to explain it. "This's what they call a poke-berry*. If you eat it, you turn into a pokemorph but also gain the power to turn back," he explains. "Also, I have no idea how they taste. Everyone I ask gives me a different answer."

*Visibly fed up with being out-sped, Callista forces her injured leg to cooperate and pours on the speed, her form becoming the slightest bit blurry for a split second. As she does so, she raises her right hand---dainty tiny claws visible on the tips of her fingers---and swipes at the Aura Sphere as it gets close to her, intending to reduce it to particles.*

(Agility, directly into Slash. Neither of these are part of her species' movepool, but rather are things that fall within Calli's specific power-set.)

D looks a little surprised at the maneuver, but it seems to work, the aura ball dissippating. That doesn't seem to upset her much; in fact, her expression shifts to a grin not long after the moment of surprise. She launches herself full-speed at Callista then, beginning a flurry of rapid punches and kicks as soon as she seems marginally in range.

*Callista tries to defend herself the best she can; to her credit she can at least block punches reasonably well, and she doesn't seem to be having problems keeping track of D's onslaught. Defending against all the kicks is a no-go almost from the start, though, and each one jars her bones on contact; the hybrid's eyes narrow, and she grits her teeth as she draws in her breath, waiting for the right moment...

...until finally, the ring rattles as Callista bellows at D point-blank with ear-splitting force.*

D takes the yell at full force, and is knocked to the other end of the ring, sitting down, by it. Her grin explodes into a hopeless fit of laughter and she holds up her hands in an "okay, fight's over" gesture while she recovers from it. She doesn't seem all that badly injured overall, maybe slightly bruised.

*Callista nods, stays upright long enough to catch her breath a bit longer, then falls to her knees and hands with a hiss of pain.*

Man... man oh man... healing or not, my bones are gonna hate me in the morning.

D's laugh calms into a regular chuckle, and she nods, standing back up and heading for the side of the ring the 'healing' button is on. "You are a fun fight. I'd love to get you in a real ring sometime." She leans over and presses the button, and whatever soothing magic it works gets started. "I bet..you've seen the real thing, haven't you? You don't fight the nice and proper way folks do when their lives have never truly been at stake."

((Considered making a pokémon-based version of the phrase "seeing the elephant" with Donphan but decided it would be too oblique.))

*weak smile; stands up* Well, it would take me a bit too long to tell you how I got here, but I used to be part of an intergalactic peacekeeping force. I wanted to have something resembling a normal life, so I let myself get turned human again after I got out here, then ended up getting my hybrid form just within the past few years.

D nods. "I might like to hear more sometime. I got into the habit of learning people's backstories to imitate them better, but these days I just love hearing them in general. Since you knew who Clyve was, I'm guessing I'm your second?"
