The Hyena and the Hound

An ordinary-looking office building from a distance. The door in front has a logo with the initials P.F.L. overlayed on a pokeball-esque silhouette, and below that the "Training/Sparring Facility 237". Two people walk inside, both looking pokemon like themselves. Just inside is a small room with another door in it and what looks like a card scanner of some sort attached to its lock; in the same motion as walking in the Mightyena-like girl digs an ID card of some sort out of her pocket and scans it before throwing open the door, revealing a hallway. Right across the hall from this door is one of the rooms typical of the space: A fairly big room with a raised "boxing ring like" platform in the middle. A couple of humanoid pokemon are already in the middle of a battle in that one, so she makes a left turn to look for a free room...

[Knight Errant]

Dact follows behind her... looking about curiously. She walks with a bit of an awkward gait... not entirely comfortable with her new self yet. She hesitates a moment... watching the match going on in the occupied ring before following after the girl.

It's a big guy with the tail and wings of a Charizard, and about at the time Dact looks he starts breathing fire all over the arena. Some kind of barrier keeps that fire from going beyond the ropes, and his opponent is momentarily obscured to a silhouette by all the fire, but has a stance that suggests a martial artist of some sort. The other doors in this hallway lead to basically similar rooms with other matchups going on; the one next door to that first one has a guy who looks sort of like a were-Furfrou with very poofy top-hair attacking a training dummy in the middle of the ring. Velcy stops at the door after that, finding a free room, and heads inside, going up to the side of the ring to where there is a little control panel before fussing with a few of its buttons. Another of those training dummies pops up in the middle of this ring.

She watches every fight curiously for a few moments before heading along. Finally following Velcy into the empty room. She rubs the back of her head. "So... what do you have planned?"

"Well, since you ain't used ta fightin' like a pokemon yet, I thought you could start off hitting a dummy," says Velcy, waving to the one in the ring. "I can explain a few things along the way. This's usually how I do it for folks who're just startin' out."

[Knight Errant]

Dact nods. "Alright... sure. I guess starting out describes me well enough."

"Alright, just climb on up there. Ya don't have to worry about letting loose, there's some kinda..barrier stuff keepin' attacks from going outta the ring. You're a dark type, which means underhanded kinda attacks work well for ya. Like biting, pretendin' to go one way then goin' the other, that kinda thing. You're also fire type, a' course. With the fire breath and probably some other ways to heat things up." Velcy sniggers to herself slightly at this, although it seems to have been unintentional.

She climbs on up into the ring. Hrm... she looks to Velcy. "Underhanded isn't exactly my style..."

"It ain't villainous or anythin'. It's just good strategy, makin' use of every advantage ya can. Sometimes ya can't win by strength alone, ya gotta be clever." The Mightyena-girl shrugs, moving over to a folding chair on one side and sitting down. "Well, anyway, fire's good, yeah? Try that, or whatever else comes naturally to ya."

She nods. "I'll think about that..." She slowly circles the training dummy... trying to feel out her new instincts. Her eyes gleam as she leers at the dummy... then when she's facing its 'back' she charges in... moving for a punch... but then finds herself grabbing it instead. Leaning in and chomping it on the back of the neck with a bite!

The dummy tastes a bit like paper: Not something one would want to eat, but not horrible. Whoever designed it probably had people biting it in mind. The bite leaves some deep marks in the neck; seems like it did quite a bit of damage.
"Haha~, about as strong as I thought," Velcy comments, apparently not at all bothered Dact used such an attack.

Dact leans away... blinking. She feels her canine teeth with her tongue. They are a bit long, and her teeth are on the sharp side. "Erm... I'm not entirely sure why I did that..."

"Well, ya came at it with intent ta harm, right? Your instincts just channeled that into somethin' natural for your 'species', so to speak. I've been like this..." Velcy pauses, thinking on her word choice. "Well, I been part pokemon all my life, anyway, so I don't know just what it's like. But folks with martial training of one kind or another usually find their instincts tuned a little bit to match their type. I've been told it gets ta feeling natural if ya trust your instincts enough."

Dact hrms. "I see... seems... interesting, I guess..."

"Well, if ya still ain't comfortable with the idea of Dark moves ya could see how much fire you can muster. I got a face full a' your flamethrower earlier, but from your strength I'd guess you should be able to make an outright Inferno if ya put your mind to it."
