And back to the Umbreon: "Yeah...it's really weird to use, and it's special type so my version's a lot weaker than the real deal. I really have no idea how learning it worked, I just crushed a glowing ball thing they gave me."

Swift: *blinks audibly* ---...Huh. I knew the kids' godpapa was up to something, but... wow.---

*Swift turns and gives Nate as incredibly deadpan an expression his species can muster, speaking to him via telepathy.*

Swift: ---...Dude. Seriously. She's humanoid. She doesn't have one. She doesn't need one.---

"I'm cursed anyway," says Whyte, waving a hand. "You've heard of cursed equipment like in an RPG, right?" It seems like this isn't the first time someone has asked this sort of thing since she became humanoid.
Back to the strange move conversation: "Breaking the usual rules seems like a privilege of the powerful in general. I'm happy being low- or medium-grade compared to that, though. Still not sure I trust myself with that level of 'Power' anyway."

Swift: ---Still, though... @#$^&ing Sacred Fire.--- *shakes his head in amazement* ---And here I thought having a Z-Move felt like a rush.---

"The only move you ever need is Metronome. That and maybe Draco Meteor." Nate says with a nod.

Swift: ---Fat lot of good that'll do you against a Ghost-type, and the grand lottery nets you Explosion. Or if you're up against someone particularly tanky, like yours truly.---

"The last time I fought someone who used metronome exclusively...they kept rolling ghost moves," says Whyte. "It would've been hilarious if it wasn't so sad. And they were tanky enough to survive a bunch of my harder hits, so they might've beat me if they'd made a couple of useful moves. Not knowing what'll come out is the kind of risk you can only afford in situations where you're already desperate." At this point she levers back into an indian-style sitting position, getting a little tired of crouching.

"I tend to get in a lot of desperate situations, so it kind of works out."

Swift: *sits down on his haunches* ---To say those two moves would be all you need is too much of a stretch, though. Trust someone who's been there.---
*looks up at Whyte* ---That reminds me. I got to visit my Mom recently, and she asked to send you her regards.---

"That's good to hear," says Whyte, nodding. "So she's doing okay?"

Swift: ---Aside from teaching a stubborn trainer who was trying to catch her that 'no means no', sure.--- *smiles* ---Still free, still living, still loving how she lives.---

"Well, see ya..." Nate starts walking off.

Before spinning around and tossing a pokeball at Whyte.

Whyte and Swift both blur out of view briefly, and the pokeball lands on empty grass, the two of them in the same positions as before but located a few feet to the side. "Sorry about that. Speaking of 'no means no'..." Whyte says to the Umbreon before standing up and stretching. "I'll give you one chance to not do that again. The PFL regulations say we can't use our moves on anyone outside the ring, unless it's in something like self defense. You wanna know what a Quick Attack feels like, you go right ahead."

"That was um...I mean...you see...I was just...praticing!" Nate stumbled a bit. "I-I knew you'd dodge it. Good job! Hahahahahaha..."

Whyte crosses her arms, still looking annoyed. "I need you to understand something. My curse makes pokeballs hurt me. I have PTSD from experiencing continual, excruciating pain when someone tried keeping me in a Luxury ball. Even if I were a full pokemon, which you can clearly see I'm not, it wouldn't be pleasant for either of us if you tried keeping me in one of those." She pauses, apparently getting an idea. "You know...you ever wondered what it's like to use pokemon moves yourself?"
