On one dark October night, just after sunset, a tecnicolored wind sweeps into a empty field on the outskirts of Muffinville. It swirls into a tight funnel and then there is a flash of odd colored light. Left in the wake of all this, there is a Carnival filling the field.
The Carnival had some of the usual things, games designed to part you from your money, and rides designed to part you from whatever you last ate. Each ride had a sign that said how much a ticket to ride it cost. They weren’t cheap.
But there was one ‘ride’ that felt a bit different, and it was labled as free.
One of the doors in the ride opens and out walks a woman.
“This town looks like it’s seen better days. Still, there might be some people around to provide some amusement.” She waves her hand causing dim lights to come on all over the Midway, the rides to start operating, and barkers to appear at the other rides and at each game booth. It’s a good thing the lights are dim, because in bighter lighting it would be seen that the barkers were all semi-translucent.
She stepped over to the barkers position for the Haunted Mansion and waited for some suckers, er customers.
