Somewhat Special Event: The Extras Talk Back!

Sure did. We know now that Jenny was an awful person back then, what with that cult and everything, but being simple-minded pets at the time we didn't care. She made sure we had everything we needed, including food, attention and toys, and we loved her for it. She never tried getting rid of us either, and since Drew and I liked to bicker and fight I know she was tempted to.

*shakes her head* But both Drew and I grew old, and the older we got the more distraught Jenny became. By about 2010-2011 we were both around 15 or so, and you have to understand that's old for a cat. We were having health issues at the time, and there was a very real chance we wouldn't live much longer. There were several times when I walked into Jenny's room, she would see me enter and just start crying for seemingly no reason.

Yeah, that is pretty old... So, how did you go from that to working for Miss Circe?

[AmbushCat]

*scratches her chin, chuckling nervously and sweatdropping* Uh, eh-heh... see, here's the thing. Around that time, Jenny found out about Circe's experiments with creating her own Color fruits. Wanting to keep us alive, she sneaked into the Manor's greenhouse under the cover of night and managed to make off with a few fruits, including a planberry. The next morning she minced them in the blender, mixed them with our regular meals, and let us eat. She was rather distraught about it the whole time, petting us and telling us that she didn't want to see us suffer.

Of course, it turned out we didn't suffer for much longer. Since the portion I got was mostly planberry, I turned into the super-smart Silver girl you're seeing right now. Drew's meal was 2/3rds Che-Cherry and 1/3 Clockwork Orange, so it turned her cute and psychotic.

Oh, I see... So, I guess Miss Circe found out about her breaking in?

[AmbushCat]

Sure did, but it turned out she didn't come knocking on our door herself. You remember that Gorgon-girl security agent who used to work at the Manor? *thinks back* Lorin... Snacfia, I want to say her name was? Drew and I were still trying to get the hang of walking on two legs when she showed up. Turns out espers can be really good at tracking people when they want to. *shrugs* Who knew?

Oh yeah, I remember her. So what did she do once she found you?

She and Jenny got into this big shouting match. Jenny kept going on about wanting to keep us alive, and Lorin kept insisting that it didn't excuse thievery. It looked like they were going to fight right there in the condo, which probably would've defeated the purpose of giving us Colors to begin with. It didn't take much for me to see that there was a real chance the rest of the building would've collapsed on our heads if I didn't do something.

I was in favor of giving Lorin something to drink. An uninvited guest was still a guest, or so I thought. *rolls her eyes* Drew shot that idea down by grabbing one of those snakes that grew out of Lorin's hair and biting it. *weak laugh* You can imagine the subsequent freakout.

[Ookalf]

Oh, yeah, she'd hate that... I'm guessing Drew got beat up then or something?

[AmbushCat]

*mutters* Don't I wish... *aloud* No, surprisingly. Drew had bitten the snake in just the right place to temporarily kill it, and this had more of a stunning effect on Lorin than expected. Jenny and I were the ones who were freaking out: hair standing on end, bodies turned chalk white, the whole nine yards.

After we pried Drew's fangs loose, Jenny was all for throwing Lorin out the window. Looking back, I'm positive that she would've sent her into Acutus' "care" given half a chance. *shakes her head* I was able to get a word in and point out that Lorin might have threatened violence, but she was still there for the right reasons. Logically speaking, it only seemed fair to treat her with all the dignity that a prospective villainess's representative deserved, and Drew actually backed me up on this. *smiles fondly* Jenny was definitely conflicted, but she stood down; this managed to shock Lorin into remembering her manners and doing the same.

[Ookalf]

...Huh, OK. So did you just sit down and talk about it?

[AmbushCat]

Yeah. I talked to Jenny and suggested that she give the full story now that she had a clearer head, so she went ahead and did that. Lorin just sort of sat there with this conflicted expression, then grabbed her phone and dialed up Circe to give her an update. There was some back and forth before Lorin suggested that maybe since Drew and I had been TF'ed with the Manor's fruits, it was only fair that we live and work there as payment.

It took a little bit to convince Circe of that, but they got it worked out. *shakes her head* It's been long enough that I don't remember if this took place before or after Dact helped Lady Circe with her anger issues. I want to say 'before', if only because she seemed a bit on edge when Drew and I met her for the first time.

Yeah, I wouldn't really know... So, is that the end of the story?

[AmbushCat]

Well, yes and no. Yes where Lorin's involvement was concerned, no where Drew and I were concerned. You know how in most cases where people who weren't born human get TF'ed or Colored into one, they get that instinctive knowledge about how to move around and details like that? *tail lashes in annoyance* Yeah, we... didn't get that.

Nothing at all? Ouch... *Sassafras shakes her head.* I can't imagine having to learn all that on my own... How did you manage it?

We had to go about things the slow way, unfortunately. One of those that Smash Daisaku--I think it was him, anyway--delivered to Circe took it upon herself to teach us how to walk, but even then it was a major adjustment. Spend most of your life as a cat, you get used to walking on four legs. It took us about a month before we could walk around without help, and longer before we could actually help with any sort of work.
