You don't have to apologize, child. It's been a long time now. They were good kids... maybe not the best kids, but they tried. I sometimes wonder how long they lived after I left, what my descendants look like now... *dabs at her eyes with a handkerchief* Ah, well. I can't go back, so it's no use dwelling on it.

As for my husband, I recall him being disappointed because he'd really wanted to have a fourth child, and citing our lower middle-class finances wasn't really enough to deter him. I didn't have much choice but to let him in on my secret, and even then it took him a fair bit of convincing to get my point of view across to him. Happily he kept his word and never told anyone; I don't know what would have happened if the world found out that superpowers were a thing.

Interdimensional travel. My adventures in that Muffinville-esque city were in another universe altogether. You might have heard stories from others about how they ended up in the Muffin Continent, whether it was intentional or just serendipity? Something along those lines. I mean, it's not like everyone in Muffinville's a natural born resident of the place. Ask Circe about Ookalf sometime.

In my case I was yanked from my home more or less at random. The guy who did it even said something about a metaphorical fishing line and not being picky about who took the bait.

Hmm... how best to describe him... okay, I've got it. Take the worst traits of every person you've ever met and combine them into one person, turn him into a zombie, then give him Jusenkyo curses of every species in existence. That's Raybans.

Uh-huh... *Sassafras tries to imagine what a person like that might be like and shudders.* This "Raybans" sounds... unpleasant.

((OOC: Well, I've had to deal with a number of miscellaneous doctor's appointments since mid-February, with several more to go in April and another one this month. Plus they want to get me set up for another colonoscopy at some point, which is its own set of complications. I've been distracting myself from these more and more with video games and YouTube, plus trying to mentally plan out the plot of "Woolgathering", which means that visits to the forums have been shunted down my priority list. ))

Yeah. And he was proud of it, too. Go figure.

After my adventures came to an end, I stayed with my family another 40+ years. I had to use my powers to fake aging and diabetic complications, and when I was around 75 years old I left a fake body behind to make it seem like I'd died of the latter. I stuck around in disguise a little while longer to make sure my Last Will was probated and leave a coded message for my kids, then left that universe forever. *looks down at the counter, palming her forehead* I just... I just couldn't face them anymore.
