The next morning Karuko woke
up. Feeling no movement on her back, she
figured Cajava was still asleep. She slowly walked out of
the knothole and
began to walk towards Lavender so as not to wake Cajava.
After a while, Cajava woke up.
"Anything happen?" asked Cajava.
Karuko shook her head, but then pointed to
some buildings in the
distance.
"Oh good! We're almost at
Lavender."
Cajava then held on to Karuko's collar
ordering Karuko to hurry on to
Lavender. Soon enough, a running Vulpix with a small girl
hanging on to its
collar entered Lavender. They entered Pokemon Tower and
walked up the
stairs, when all of a sudden, a Gastly, that looked close to
evolving,
attacked the two...

Cajava leaped off and ran into a nearby hole in
the wall to avoid being
stomped on. As soon as she was out of the way, the gastly swooped
down
and tried to lick Karuko. At the last minute, Karuko used a
Flamethrower.
"Gaaasssstlyy!" gastly growled at Karuko, then started
flying in
circles. Faster and faster it went, until there was just a cloud
of
purple dust. To Karuko's horror, the cloud slowly changed shape.
Hands
appeared, followed by a strange shape. On this shape appeared two
eyes,
eyes that appeared to look into Karuko's soul. Finally, a mouth
formed.
"Haw haw haw haw!" cried the newly-evolved Haunter. It
swooped down o
Karuko, swinging its disembodied hands. Karuko dashed through the
Tower, followed by the psychotic ghost. Every now and then,
Karuko
would ambush it with a Flamethrower, but the Haunter kept coming.
Suddenly, a group of Cubones appeared. They attacked the Haunter,
taking advantage of its Poison type with their Bone Clubs.
Finally, it
collapsed. Karuko ran over and touched the Great Ball on the
Ghost-type.
It was sucked in and easily caught.
"Vulpix vulpix vul vul?" (Why did you help me?)
One of the bigger Cubones answered. "cubone cu cu bone bone.
Cubone
bone bone cu" (It had been terrorizing us as a gastly and we
never
earned the courage. It was when we saw your courageous efforts
that we
decided to stand up for ourselves."
Cajava crawled out of her hiding spot and hopped up on Karuko and
scratched her ears. "Good job, Karuko." Karuko purred.
That night, the
Cubones made a fire outside the Tower and danced to celebrate the
haunter's defeat. karuko and Cajava watched, then realized that
their
challenge was only half done. With this new weapon, they have to
beat
Sabrina if the two ever hope to be normal again.
